On the global convergence

Numerical Functional Analysis and Optimization, 1997
Global convergence results are proved for Newton's method and for a modified Newton method applied to nonsmooth systems of equations that satisfy some convexity conditions. Numerical experiments are presented showing that the theoretical results explain computational performance.

Global Convergence of ADMM in Nonconvex Nonsmooth Optimization

Journal of Scientific Computing, 2015
In this paper, we analyze the convergence of the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) for minimizing a nonconvex and possibly nonsmooth objective function, ϕ(x0,…,xp,y)\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \

From Chaos to Global Convergence

Mediterranean Journal of Mathematics, 2010
The main purpose of this paper is to investigate dynamical systems $${F : \mathbb{R}^2 \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^2}$$ of the form F(x, y) = (f(x, y), x). We assume that $${f : \mathbb{R}^2 ...

Global convergence rate analysis of unconstrained optimization methods based on probabilistic models

Mathematical programming, 2015
We present global convergence rates for a line-search method which is based on random first-order models and directions whose quality is ensured only with certain probability.

Globalization and Policy Convergence [PDF]

open access: possibleInternational Studies Review, 2001
An implicit assumption of most policy analysts and some academics is that globalization leads to a convergence of traditionally national policies governing environmental regulation, consumer health and safety, the regulation of labor, and the ability to tax capital.

A stabilized SQP method: global convergence

, 2017
Stabilized sequential quadratic programming (SQP) methods for nonlinear optimization are designed to provide a sequence of iterates with fast local convergence regardless of whether or not the active-constraint gradients are linearly dependent.

A Global Convergence Against Globalization?

New Perspectives Quarterly, 2009
The Iranian revolution—the political realization of the “Great Refusal” of Western modernization—was a direct consequence a half century later of the forced secularization of the Ottoman Caliphate by Kemal Ataturk. With the superstructure of the Muslim ummah dismantled and replaced by the Turkish nation state, insurgent religious movements, from the ...

Foreign Institutional Ownership and the Global Convergence of Financial Reporting Practices

, 2015
This paper investigates whether foreign institutional investors affect the global convergence of financial reporting practices. Using several measures of reporting convergence, we show that U.S.

Globalization and Economic Convergence

Competition & Change, 1997
Convergence among national economies is viewed by a growing number of observers as an inevitable result of increasing global integration of product and financial markets. Yet there is reason to doubt that globalization has yet brought about, or will in the future bring about, the degree of convergence assumed by some.

Global convergence of the stochastic tâtonnement process

Journal of Mathematical Economics, 2000
The paper introduces stochastic elements into the Walrasian tâtonnement process, both to make it more realistic and to ensure its global convergence, with probability 1. It is assumed that the aggregate excess demand satisfies standard assumptions but is subject to measurement error. We distinguish two cases.
