A frequent claim from political pundits, activists, and domestic politicians is that global institutions suffer a “democratic deficit.” One might imagine that such a claim would be based on a comparative democratic surplus or at least a right democratic balance of state-based institutions.

Global existence without uniqueness
Annali di Matematica Pura ed Applicata, 1970In this paper we investigate the extendability of solutions of ordinary differential equations on [to, ∞) with the use of Liapunov functions. The results extend to non-unique systems the work done by Conti and Strauss, as well as establishing an equivalence between two properties of a Liapunov function.

Abstract In Chapter 31, we prove future global existence in the case that the initial data are specified on the 3-torus, and assuming the initial data are close to those of de Sitter space. The proof is a bootstrap argument, one important ingredient being a system of differential inequalities.
