Control and State Estimation of the One-Phase Stefan Problem via Backstepping Design

open access: yes, 2017
This paper develops a control and estimation design for the one-phase Stefan problem. The Stefan problem represents a liquid-solid phase transition as time evolution of a temperature profile in a liquid-solid material and its moving interface.

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Constructive necessary and sufficient condition for the stability of quasi-periodic linear impulsive systems

open access: yes, 2016
International audienceThe paper provides a computation-oriented necessary and sufficient condition for the global exponential stability of linear impulsive systems, whose impulsions are assumed to occur quasi-periodically.

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Predictor-Feedback Stabilization of Multi-Input Nonlinear Systems

open access: yes, 2015
We develop a predictor-feedback control design for multi-input nonlinear systems with distinct input delays, of arbitrary length, in each individual input channel.

Selective and Precise Editing of Digital Polymers Through Parallel or Series Toehold‐Mediated Strand Displacement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequence‐encoded supramolecular construct containing two accessible toeholds is developed herein for enabling multiple editing operations. By introducing specific input strands, it is possible to selectively erase or rewrite digital content through parallel or series toehold‐mediated strand displacement (PTMSD or STMSD).

Global Exponential Stability of Antiperiodic Solutions for Discrete-Time Neural Networks with Mixed Delays and Impulses

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2012
The problem on global exponential stability of antiperiodic solution is investigated for a class of impulsive discrete-time neural networks with time-varying discrete delays and distributed delays.

Novel Lagrange sense exponential stability criteria for time-delayed stochastic Cohen–Grossberg neural networks with Markovian jump parameters: A graph-theoretic approach

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2020
This paper concerns the issues of exponential stability in Lagrange sense for a class of stochastic Cohen–Grossberg neural networks (SCGNNs) with Markovian jump and mixed time delay effects.
