A comprehensive review of global maximum power point tracking algorithms for photovoltaic systems
Energy Systems, 2021The proposed paper provides a detailed, critical and comprehensive review of the widely used and recently developed global maximum power point tracking (GMPPT) algorithms for photovoltaic (PV) systems. For the ease of comparison, the algorithms are categorized into four major groups, (1) optimization algorithms, (2) hybrid techniques of two different ...

Predicting the Global Maximum Power Point Locus using Shading Information
2019 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2019 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe), 2019The power-voltage characteristic curves of a series-connected photovoltaic (PV) system exhibit multiple peaks in partial shading scenario (PSS). However, there lacks a feasible model that obtains the capability of predicting the global maximum power point (GMPP) locus.

Global Maximum Power Point Tracking Algorithm for Solar Power System
2019The P-U curve of the PV (photovoltaic) system has multi-peak characteristics under non-uniform irradiance conditions (NUIC). The conventional MPPT algorithm can only track the local maximum power points, therefore, PV system fails to work at the global optimum, causing serious energy loss.

A High Speed Global Maximum Power Point Tracking Algorithm for PV Systems
2016Partial shading is one of the unfavourable conditions for photovoltaic modules since available power of them decreases. Besides that, maximum power point tracking becomes difficult in that kind of condition. Multiple maximum power points occur on the voltage - power curve of photovoltaic modules, if modules have bypass diodes.

Experimental implementation of an electronic load for global maximum power point tracking
2016 IEEE 2nd Annual Southern Power Electronics Conference (SPEC), 2016This work deals with the partial shading effect in the power curve of a PV solar array. Using a semiconductor device — MOSFET or IGBT — as electronic load added to a buck converter, it is possible to scan the power curve of a photovoltaic string and therefore empirically determine its optimum voltage, even in presence of partial shading.

Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is a technique employed to extract maximum power available from a photovoltaic (PV) module under varying atmospheric conditions. It traces the PV operating voltage corresponding to the maximum power point (MPP) and operates the panel at MPP. However, if a PV array is partially shaded, the conventional MPPT techniques

A Time-Based Global Maximum Power Point Tracking Technique for PV System
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2020This paper presents a new global maximum power point tracking (GMPPT) technique for the photovoltaic (PV) array under uniform as well as non-uniform solar irradiance. The proposed method uses the I–V characteristic of the PV array to track the global peak.

Dragonfly Algorithm Based Global Maximum Power Point Tracker for Photovoltaic Systems
2016This paper presents the application of the Dragonfly Algorithm (DA) for tracking the Global Maximum Power Point (GMPP) of a photovoltaic (PV) system. Optimization techniques employed for GMPP tracking (GMPPT) are required to be fast and efficient in order to reduce the tracking time and energy loss respectively. The DA, being a meta-heuristic algorithm

In this work, an Analog Global Maximum Power Point Tracker (A-GMPPT) is introduced and discussed. The underlying idea of this A-GMPPT is the peak power tracking using a capacitive load, in particular the filter input capacitance of the DC/DC converter.

A global maximum power point tracking method for PV module integrated converters
2012 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2012This paper proposes a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method to seek the global maximum power point (MPP) in photovoltaic (PV) modules. The method infers partial shading—and hence the possibility of multiple maxima—by monitoring bypass-diode voltages and initiates a global search routine only if a bypass diode turns on.
