Multiple peaks in power-voltage (P-V) characteristics of photovoltaic (PV) strings under partial shading conditions (PSC) bring challenges to maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques for reaching the global maximum power point (GMPP). Early studies have revealed that the locus of the GMPP can be predicted from the shading information, which is ...

Global maximum power point tracking method under partial shading conditions
2015 IEEE Advanced Information Technology, Electronic and Automation Control Conference (IAEAC), 2015The power characteristics of photovoltaic systems can have multiple peaks when under partially shading conditions which can cause traditional power tracking methods to operate at the lower power peaks. This paper presents a global maximum power point tracking method under partially shading conditions.

On-line global maximum power point (GMPP) identification of solar PV plants
2018 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2018This paper introduces an algorithm to identify the global maximum power point (GMPP) of a solar Photovoltaic (PV) plant while operating under the partial shade condition (PSC) or fault condition (FC). Conventionally a complete current vs. voltage (or I-V) curve of the faulty PV array is swept to identify the GMPP.

Experimental Validation of a Photovoltaic Scan Circuit for Global Maximum Power Point Tracking
2018 IEEE ANDESCON, 2018This paper presents the partial shading effect on a solar photovoltaic system and proposes a circuit for scanning the power-voltage curve. In the first part of this document the partial shading effect is presented, then an experimental set-up is shown where a simple Perturb & Observe algorithm is trapped in a local point of maximum power. The next part

Global Maximum Power Point Tracking Method for Photovoltaic Arrays Under Partial Shading Conditions
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2017The power–voltage characteristic of photovoltaic (PV) arrays displays multiple local maximum power points when all the modules do not receive uniform solar irradiance, i.e., under partial shading conditions (PSCs). Conventional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) methods are shown to be effective under uniform solar irradiance conditions. However, they

A Fast Global Maximum Power Point Tracking Technique for Partially Shaded PV Arrays
2018 IEEE International Students' Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science (SCEECS), 2018This paper proposes a new global MPPT method for PV array under non-uniform insolation. The proposed method first tracks the knee point using I-V characteristic which is near to the local peak of the P-V curve. Then it compares the measured power at various knee points to find the region containing global peak.
