Targeting PRAME directly or via EZH2 inhibition overcomes retinoid resistance and represents a novel therapy for keratinocyte carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The study evaluated the function and therapeutic implications of PRAME in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The findings demonstrate that PRAME impairs keratinocyte differentiation pathways. Furthermore, PRAME impairs anticancer response to retinoid compounds in BCC and SCC cells.

Can Global Optimization Strategy Outperform Myopic Strategy for Bayesian Parameter Estimation? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Bayesian adaptive inference is widely used in psychophysics to estimate psychometric parameters. Most applications used myopic one-step ahead strategy which only optimizes the immediate utility. The widely held expectation is that global optimization strategies that explicitly optimize over some horizon can largely improve the performance of the myopic

Global search method for solving Malfatti’s four-circle problem

open access: yesИзвестия Иркутского государственного университета: Серия "Математика", 2016
We consider Malfatti’s problem formulated 200 years ago. In the beginning, Malfatti’s problem was supposed to be solved in a geometric construction way. In 1994, it was done by Zalgaller and Los for the original Malfatti’s problem using so-called greedy ...

A Generalized Measure for the Optimal Portfolio Selection Problem and its Explicit Solution

open access: yesRisks, 2018
In this paper, we offer a novel class of utility functions applied to optimal portfolio selection. This class incorporates as special cases important measures such as the mean-variance, Sharpe ratio, mean-standard deviation and others.

Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

An Improved Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm Based on Elite Strategy and Dimension Learning

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
Artificial bee colony is a powerful optimization method, which has strong search abilities to solve many optimization problems. However, some studies proved that ABC has poor exploitation abilities in complex optimization problems. To overcome this issue,

Diffusions for Global Optimization

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 1986
We seek a global minimum of $U:[0,1]^n \to R$. The solution to $({d / {dt}})x_t = - \nabla U(x_t )$ will find local minima. The solution to $dx_t = - \nabla U(x_t )dt + \sqrt {2T} dw_t $, where w is standard (n-dimensional) Brownian motion and the boundaries are reflecting, will concentrate near the global minima of U, at least when “temperature” T is ...

A New Hybrid Classical-Quantum Algorithm for Continuous Global Optimization Problems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Grover's algorithm can be employed in global optimization methods providing, in some cases, a quadratic speedup over classical algorithms. This paper describes a new method for continuous global optimization problems that uses a classical algorithm for finding a local minimum and Grover's algorithm to escape from this local minimum.

DIFFERENTIAL EVOLUTION WITH COMPETITIVE SETTING OF CONTROL PARAMETERS

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2007
This paper is focused on the adaptation of control parameters in differential evolution. Competition of various control parameter settings was proposed in order to ensure self-adaptation of parameter values in the search process.
