Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

North meets South : a call for inclusive global research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic is emphasising the extent of inequalities, both between and within societies. In the dynamics between nations, these inequalities revolve around the reliance on international funding bodies for humanitarian aid — and what happens ...

Myrcene‐Based Tailored Co‐Polymers as Active Pharmaceutical Excipients: Bio‐Based Solutions for Mucoadhesive Excipients

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mucoadhesive amphiphilic block and statistical copolymers were synthesized via Reversible Addition–Fragmentation Chain Transfer polymerization from bio‐sourced myrcene and polyethylene glycol methacrylate. The resulting polymers exhibit narrow molar‐mass distributions, high regioselectivity, well‐defined microstructures, and tend to self‐assemble into ...

Tracing the urbanisation of risk in Malawi: A multilevel analysis

open access: yesJàmbá
Cities in Malawi have long been outside the focus of disaster risk reduction. As a result, urban risks remain poorly understood, and urban governments and disaster risk reduction (DRR) practitioners working in cities struggle to adequately support ...

Wood Cellulosic Membrane With Abundant Nanochannels for Stabilizing Aqueous Zn‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐derived cellulosic membrane separator is developed to suppress dendrite growth in aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. Its aligned nanochannels and hydroxyl‐rich surfaces enable uniform Zn2+ flux, water immobilization, and interfacial stabilization. Zn||Zn cells achieve 1920 h of cycling, Zn||Cu cells maintain 99.5% Coulombic efficiency over 1000 cycles,
