Walsh & Hoyt: Duane\u27s Retraction Syndrome

open access: yes, 2005
Duane\u27s retraction syndrome (DRS)is a predominantly congenital eye movement disorder characterized by marked limitation or absence of abduction, variable limitation of adduction, and palpebral fissure narrowing and globe retraction on attempted ...

Molecular Engineering Mediated Interfacial Assembly as an Artificial Extracellular Matrix Remolds Bacteria With Enhanced Abiotic Resilience

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic artificial extracellular matrix is assembled directly on Pseudomonas fluorescens by co‐assembling amyloid‐like lysozyme and alginate at the cell surface. This conformal nanocoating acts as both a hydration buffer and a physiological priming layer, markedly enhancing desiccation tolerance, seed adhesion, storage stability, and biocontrol ...

The Spatiotemporal Genetic Architecture of Seed Vigor in Upland Cotton

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Leveraging the semi‐automated SeedRanger platform, we profiled the germination kinetics of 356 cotton accessions at a 30‐min interval. This high‐throughput phenomic approach delineated a temporal genetic network comprising 541 stage‐specific loci. Crucially, functional validation identified FLA2 as a pivotal, auxin‐modulated regulator that orchestrates

Conformational Snapshots of CydDC in a Native Lipid Bilayer Coupling Heme Transport to Antibiotic Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phylogenetic and biochemical analyses of the heme transporter CydDC reveal its functional conservation throughout bacterial evolution and demonstrate its unique asymmetric allosteric mechanism. Furthermore, impairment of CydDC function directly affects bacterial antibiotic resistance and likely compromises antibiotic efficacy through drug efflux.

Upper eyelid retraction from inferior rectus restriction in dysthyroid orbit disease.

open access: yes, 1987
Findings from orbital computed tomography scans have shown inflammatory enlargement of the levator palpebralis superioris complex to be a likely cause of eyelid retraction in dysthyroid (Graves\u27s) ophthalmopathy.

Optic Nerve Sheath Tethering in Adduction Occurs in Esotropia and Hypertropia, But Not in Exotropia. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
PURPOSE: Repetitive strain to the optic nerve (ON) due to tethering in adduction has been recently proposed as an intraocular pressure-independent mechanism of optic neuropathy in primary open-angle glaucoma.
