Common mycorrhizal networks (CMN) capture the imagination of researchers and the public alike and have played a large role in communicating about mycorrhiza in general. With many of the claims about the functional importance of CMN recently under intense scrutiny, it becomes important to assess the literature on this topic.

Improving agricultural productivity to meet the growing food and feed demand via nitrogen fertilization comes with trade‐offs such as environmental pollution and biodiversity loss. In this study, we explored and compared the effect of repeated application of different chemical nitrogen fertilizers and biogas residues on the bacterial and fungal ...

The AMSlide for noninvasive time‐lapse imaging of arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis
Abstract Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis, the nutritional partnership between AM fungi and most plant species, is globally ubiquitous and of great ecological and agricultural importance. Studying the processes of AM symbiosis is confounded by its highly spatiotemporally dynamic nature.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are a diverse group of soil fungi (Glomeromycota) that form the most ancient mutualistic association termed arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis with a majority of land plants, improving their nutrition uptake and resistance

Microbial diversity in the arid and semi‐arid soils of Botswana
Soil microbial community structures differ by ecological zones, with the Sandveld having significantly lower alpha diversity than the Wet‐Sandveld and Hardveld. The most important drivers of microbial composition and diversity are net plant productivity (NPP) and soil pH.

Indigenous arbuscular mycorrhiza and Trichoderma from systems with soybean predominance can improve tomato growth [PDF]
In the last decades, there has been a tendency towards sustainable agriculture. Following this trend, edaphic fungi as Trichoderma and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) could increase plant growth contributing to diminish agricultural chemical supply ...

We studied soil microbial communities in former phosphate mining areas, where substantial differences in soil phosphorus concentrations persist due to past mining activities. The results show striking similarities in microbiome patterns regardless of phosphorus concentrations. However, we identified indicator taxa for phosphorus‐enriched sites.
