A Study of the Features of Coating Deposition on a Carbide Substrate Using Preliminary Etching with Glow-Discharge Plasma

open access: yesSurfaces
The properties of coatings obtained using two surface preparation methods were compared: heating and etching by ion bombardment with plasma generation by arc evaporators and heating and etching by a glow discharge.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Comparative investigation on the characteristics of glow discharge plasma using glow discharge mass spectrometry and glow discharge optical emission spectrometry

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry, 2002
In glow discharge mass spectrometry (GDMS) and glow discharge optical emission spectrometry (GDOES), variations in the signal intensities against the discharge parameters: current, voltage and the pressure of plasma gas, are compared to clarify their excitation/ionization processes responsible to each signal.

A Simple Theoretical Approach to Determine Relative Ion Yield (RIY) in Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Direct current glow discharge mass spectrometry (dc-GDMS) has been applied to detect impurities in metals. The aim of this study is to understand quantitatively the processes taking place in GDMS and establish a model to calculate the relative ion yield (

Effects of target gas in collision-induced dissociation using a double-quadrupole mass spectrometer and radiofrequency glow discharge [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Collision-induced dissociation (CID) of polyatomic ions sampled from an rf-powered glow discharge is examined by using three target gases including atomic (Ar and Xe) and molecular species (N2).

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Influence of Surface Finish on the Tribological Performance of AlTiBN Coatings Deposited on Forming Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

Glow discharge initiation with electron gun assist [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Helium glow discharge conditioning is used before every discharge in the D3-D Tokamak to desorb hydrogen and low Z impurities from the graphite and Inconel plasma facing surfaces.

Dust particles influence on a stratified glow discharge

open access: yesPhysical Sciences and Technology, 2020
In this work, the correlations between the parameters of a DC glow discharge and dust particles in a lowtemperatureplasma is studied. The formation of voids inside the dust cloud was studied, depending on thecharacteristics of the discharge (discharge ...
