Preparation of konjac glucomannan and acrylamide grafted konjac glucomannan

Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences, 1999
Konjac glucomannan (KGM) with good water solubility was extracted and purified by a cheap and simple method including fat-extraction, protein-extraction, decolouring, centrifuge, precipitate and other procession from tubers of amorphophallus riveiri.

Glucomannan fromCandida utilis

Folia Microbiologica, 1993
Structure of the glucomannan isolated from the cell walls of Candida utilis has been investigated using acetolysis fragmentation, methylation analysis and NMR spectroscopy. The structure of the glucomannan resembles that of the cellular mannans of other Candida species, except that the longer tetra- and pentassacharide side-chains are terminated with a

Glucomannans and nutrition

Food Hydrocolloids, 2017
The roles of native and depolymerised glucomannans in the diet are reviewed together with their impact in health and disease. The structure and properties of the carbohydrates are also considered together with their roles as microbiological substrates and their interactions with non-pathogens and pathogens.

Physicochemical Characterization of Konjac Glucomannan

Biomacromolecules, 2005
Four commercial konjac glucomannan (KGM) samples and a glucomannan derived from yeast were characterized by aqueous gel permeation chromatography coupled with multi angle laser light scattering (GPC-MALLS). Disaggregation of aqueous glucomannan solutions through controlled use of a microwave bomb facilitated reproducible molar mass distribution ...

Crystallization behavior of glucomannan

Biopolymers, 1982
AbstractFive different glucomannan samples were recrystallized from dilute solution. Depending on the experimental conditions, the crystals obtained could be identified as corresponding to the mannan I (anhydrous precipitate of more or less regular lozenge‐shaped crystals) or mannan II (hydrated gel‐forming pseudo‐fibrillar precipitate). High‐molecular‐

The glucomannan from ramie

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2002
Abstract The different fractions of ramie hemicellulose were sequentially extracted with alkali solution. The hemicellulose fraction, which is rich in d -glucose and d -mannose residues was extracted and fractionated by treatment with a solution of barium hydroxide. Four distinct polysaccharide fractions were obtained.

Synthesis of linear stereoregular glucomannan heteropolysaccharides

Biopolymers, 1977
AbstractA series of stereoregular α‐(1 → 6) linked glucomannans have been prepared by Lewis acid‐catalyzed copolymerization of anhydro sugar derivatives followed by debenzylation. The products have been characterized for mole fraction of the individual monomer, and sequence lengths have been calculated from copolymerization data.
