Hexose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase modulates the effect of inhibitors and alternative substrates of 11[beta]-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1

open access: yes, 2008
Intracellular glucocorticoid reactivation is catalyzed by 11[beta]-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1 (11[beta]-HSD1), which functions predominantly as a reductase in cells expressing hexose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (H6PDH).

Structure to function studies in UDP-glucose dehydrogenases and nitroreductases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The thesis is divided into two parts corresponding to structural studies on two different proteins. The first part concerns the study of two UDP-glucose dehydrogenases (UGDs) from Sphingomonas elodea ATCC 31461 and Burkholderia cepacia IST 408, both ...

Chandlerella hawkingi: glucose utilization and glycolytic enzymes

open access: yes, 1968
Chandlerella hawkingi, the filarial parasite of the Indian jungle crow (Corvus macrorhynchos Wagler) has been shown to utilize glucose to form mainly lactic acid. Eighty five to one hundred percent of glucose is aerobically converted into lactic acid and

HNRNPU K181 Lactylation Drives Cervical Cancer Growth by Upregulating PHGDH and Reprogramming Serine Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactate in cervical cancer induces HNRNPU K181 lactylation, opposed by NAA50‐mediated acetylation and suppressed by Pazopanib. This lactylation enhances HNRNPU binding to PHGDH pre‐mRNA exon 1, maintaining exon 1‐containing transcripts and mRNA stability, thereby activating serine metabolism.

A myo-inositol dehydrogenase involved in aminocyclitol biosynthesis of hygromycin A

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
Hygromycin A is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that contains a furanose, cinnamic acid, and aminocyclitol moieties. The biosynthesis of the aminocyclitol has been proposed to proceed through six enzymatic steps from glucose 6-phosphate through myo-inositol ...

HISTO- AND CYTOCHEMICAL LOCALIZATION OF DEHYDROGENASES IN RABBIT LENS EPITHELIUM

open access: yes, 1964
Dehydrogenase distributions were determined with Nitro BT in fresh flat mounts of the rabbit lens epithelium and capsule. The capsule was unreactive and the epithelium displayed high lactic and malic dehydrogenase activities, and minimal uridine ...

Stereospecificity of some invertebrate lactic dehydrogenases

open access: yes, 1970
It has been assumed that only among unicellular organisms did nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)-linked lactic dehydrogenases occur. All higher animals were thought to possess Lr-specific lactic dehydrogenases.
