Glucose oxidase: Applications, sources, and recombinant production

Biotechnology and applied biochemistry, 2021
Glucose oxidase is a subset of oxidoreductase enzymes that catalyzes the transfer of electrons from an oxidant to a reductant. Glucose oxidases use oxygen as an external electron acceptor that releases hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).

Co–Ferrocene MOF/Glucose Oxidase as Cascade Nanozyme for Effective Tumor Therapy

Advanced Functional Materials, 2020
Chemodynamic therapy (CDT), enabling selective therapeutic effects and low side effect, attracts increasing attention in recent years. However, limited intracellular content of H2O2 and acid at the tumor site restrains the lasting Fenton reaction and ...

Specificity of glucose oxidase

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1960
Abstract The specificity of glucose oxidase for catalyzing the oxidation of β- d -glucose in contrast to α- d -glucose, other hexoses, and pentoses was investigated. The enzyme appears to catalyze the oxidation of the beta form only, and the mutarotation of the alpha form is rate limiting.

Glucose oxidase — An overview

Biotechnology Advances, 2009
Glucose oxidase (beta-D-glucose:oxygen 1-oxidoreductase; EC 1.1.2.3.4) catalyzes the oxidation of beta-D-glucose to gluconic acid, by utilizing molecular oxygen as an electron acceptor with simultaneous production of hydrogen peroxide. Microbial glucose oxidase is currently receiving much attention due to its wide applications in chemical ...

Inkjet delivery of glucose oxidase

Chemical Communications, 2010
The activity of glucose oxidase is reduced by inkjet printing and is a function of the printing conditions. Standard characterisation methods show no significant change to enzyme molecular weight, secondary structure and general molecular shape as a function of printing parameters.

Glucose Oxidase‐Related Cancer Therapies

, 2020
Glucose oxidase (GOx), which catalyzes the conversion of glucose into gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in the presence of oxygen (O2), has aroused growing interest for cancer therapy.
