Glufosinate reduces fungal diseases in transgenic glufosinate-resistant bentgrasses (Agrostis spp)
Weed Science, 2003Abstract Glufosinate-resistant transgenic creeping and velvet bentgrass plants expressing a bar gene under the control of the maize ubiquitin promoter were inoculated separately with the fungal pathogens, Rhizoctonia solani and Sclerotinia homoeocarpa, before or after treatment with 560 mg L−1 of glufosinate at a rate of 0.56 kg ha−1.

Environmental Science & Technology
The chiral herbicide glufosinate-ammonium (racemic-GLA) is banned in the European Union due to developmental toxicity. Its herbicidally active l-enantiomer (l-GLA), marketed as a potential safer alternative, lacks developmental toxicity assessment. This study investigated the reproductive/developmental toxicity of l-GLA and racemic-GLA in pregnant mice

Tolerance of transformed cotton to glufosinate
Weed Science, 2001Abstract Field experiments from 1997 to 1999 examined cotton cv. ‘Coker 312’ that was genetically transformed to tolerate glufosinate. None of the glufosinate treatments caused visible injury to the glufosinate-tolerant cotton, but treatments were lethal to nontransformed or nonexpressing cotton. No glufosinate treatment adversely affected plant height

Chronotoxicity of glufosinate ammonium in mice.
Veterinary and human toxicology, 1995The effect of a circadian-stage dependent dosing schedule on the toxicity of glufosinate was studied in mice. Male ICR mice were housed in a standardized 12:12 light:dark cycle for 3 w. Each animal was given 1500 or 3000 mg glufosinate/kg po. A highly significant circadian rhythm occurred in the resulting mortality, with the highest mortality from ...
