A method for facile production of variable lymphocyte receptors using SHuffle Escherichia coli
Abstract Variable lymphocyte receptors (VLRs) are the antigen receptors of jawless vertebrates such as lamprey. VLRs are of growing biotechnological interest for their ability to bind certain antigenic targets with higher affinity than traditional immunoglobulins.

Abstract The production of disulfide‐containing recombinant proteins often requires refolding of inclusion bodies before purification. A pre‐refolding purification step is crucial for effective refolding because impurities in the inclusion bodies interfere with refolding and subsequent purification.

Laterally confined photonic crystal surface emitting laser based on monolayer tungsten disulfide operating at room temperature [PDF]
We report a photonic crystal surface emitting laser using monolayer tungsten disulfide as the gain medium. The cavity design utilizes a heterostructure in the photonic crystal lattice to provide lateral confinement for a high quality factor with a compact active region.

Regulation of liver phosphorylase phosphatase by glutathione disulfide.
The mechanism of inactivation of rabbit liver phosphorylase phosphatase by glutathione disulfide (GSSG) was investigated. The catalytic subunit of phosphorylase phosphatase was inactivated by GSSG and other disulfides. Inactivation by GSSG was a concentration-dependent process and resulted in the formation of an inactive, stable enzyme species.

Elucidation of the disulfide folding pathway of hirudin by a topology-based approach [PDF]
A theoretical model for the folding of proteins containing disulfide bonds is introduced. The model exploits the knowledge of the native state to favour the progressive establishment of native interactions. At variance with traditional approaches based on native topology, not all native bonds are treated in the same way; in particular, a suitable ...

Combating cancer immunotherapy resistance: a nano‐medicine perspective
Abstract Cancer immunotherapy offers renewed hope for treating this disease. However, cancer cells possess inherent mechanisms that enable them to circumvent each stage of the immune cycle, thereby evading anti‐cancer immunity and leading to resistance.

Pt nanoparticles dispersed in a metal-organic framework as peroxidase mimics for colorimetric detection of GSH [PDF]
Metal-organic skeleton materials have been widely used in catalysis with their porous structure and adsorption properties. Precious metal nanoparticles have good catalytic properties. If the noble metal nanoparticles are adsorbed on the MOFs surface, the active sites can be increased and the catalytic effect of the materials can be greatly improved. We
