Prevalence and risk factors of sarcopenia in Asian adults with type 2 diabetes: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

This meta‐analysis of 43 studies found a 17% pooled prevalence of sarcopenia in Asian adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (13% middle‐aged, 17% elderly), highest in Southeast Asia (28%). Risk factors were older age, high HbA1c, complications, and body fat; protective factors included higher BMI, good nutrition, and metformin use.

Incidence of treatment intensification based on HbA1c trends in people with type 2 diabetes

We conducted this study to examine the incidence of treatment intensification in response to changes in the HbA1c levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Of the 5,683 patients, 4,553 (80.1%) did not undergo treatment intensification at the second consultation.
