AbstractGlycerol carbonate can be readily synthesized from the oxidative carbonylation of glycerol catalyzed by PdCl2(phen) (phen=1,10‐phenanthroline) with the aid of CuI. High conversion (95 %) and selectivity (98 %) are achieved and the turnover frequency (TOF) reaches 455 h−1.

Reaction Kinetics, Mechanisms and Catalysis, 2010
The deactivation of alkali solid catalysts for the synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol and dimethyl carbonate was investigated. Calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide and calcium methoxide were chosen as the representatives of the alkali solid catalysts. When the catalysts were recycled, the yield of glycerol carbonate decreased dramatically.

Catalytic Synthesis of Hydroxymethyl‐2‐oxazolidinones from Glycerol or Glycerol Carbonate and Urea
ChemSusChem, 2012AbstractOxazolidinones have been synthesized by reacting glycerol carbonate or glycerol with urea in the presence of γ‐Zr phosphate as a catalyst. The conversion yield of the polyol or its carbonate depends on the temperature. Below 408 K the selectivity is 100 % with a conversion of up to 25 %, whereas increasing the temperature means that conversion ...

Utilization of glycerol for the production of glycerol carbonate through greener route
Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering, 2013Abstract Availability of glycerol is increased in recent years due to production of biodiesel. Glycerol carbonate, an important compound, can be manufactured using glycerol as a raw material. This work describes the synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol via an enzymatic transesterification reaction using dimethyl carbonate as co-substrate and

Synthesis of Glycerol Carbonate from Glycerol, a By-Product of Biodiesel Production
International Journal of Chemical Reactor Engineering, 2009Methyl esters of fatty acids (also known as biodiesel) made from transesterification of vegetable oils and animal fats with methanol, have shown a lot of promise as alternative diesel fuels. Glycerol is the inevitable byproduct of transesterification process.

Synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol over heterogeneous catalysts
