Interaction of organic nitrogen and C/N ratio enhances soil microarthropod abundance

open access: yesAgricultural &Environmental Letters, Volume 10, Issue 2, December 2025.
Abstract Organic management is widely regarded as an effective strategy to prevent soil degradation in agroecosystems. In this study, we investigated the abundance of soil microarthropods in a multi‐cropping system by comparing organic and conventional management practices.

Liebig Review: Legume–Rhizobium Symbiosis Under Selenium Fertilization: A Unique Dual Function in the Plant–Soil System

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Volume 188, Issue 6, Page 861-872, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Selenium (Se) plays a vital role as a beneficial element in promoting the production of leguminous plants. It influences legume quality by improving crop nutritive value and contributing to human and animal health. Literature Review This review is timely, as there are gaps in understanding Se–rhizobia interactions in legumes, which ...

Insecticides outweigh rye cover crop in triggering secondary pest outbreaks

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 12, Page 7971-7984, December 2025.
Insecticides outweigh rye cover crop in triggering secondary pest outbreaks. Zeus Mateos‐Fierro*, Ashley Leach, Ian Kaplan. Spider mite and melon aphid outbreaks are enhanced with broad‐spectrum insecticides, while natural enemies are reduced. However, rye cover crop has little effect on either pest or natural enemy populations.

Inhibition of RNase to Attenuate Fungal‐Manipulated Rhizosphere Microbiome and Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 40, October 27, 2025.
Fusarium graminearum uses its virulence effector Fg12, a fungal RNase, to manipulate the host rhizosphere microbiome and promote infection. Guanosine monophosphate (GMP) blocks Fg12's RNase activity. This reveals a key pathogen‐microbiota interaction mechanism and proposes GMP as a targeted strategy to disarm this core fungal effector, offering a ...

Assessing promiscuous traits in soybean genotypes at Bako, Western Ethiopia

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract Soil acidity challenges specific Bradyrhizobium japonicum bacteria that soybean [Glycine max L. (Merrill)] varieties require for effective nodulation and nitrogen fixation. Thus, promiscuous soybean varieties or genotypes that can form root nodules with a wide range of indigenous rhizobial bacteria are essential in areas where specific ...

Aplicação superficial de gesso num Latossolo de baixa acidez sob sistema plantio direto [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The conditions in which a favorable response to a gypsum application can be expected on crop yields are not clear. A 3-year field trial was carried out to evaluate the effects of gypsum application on soil chemical attributes and nutrition and yield of ...

Foliar application of molybdenum combined with cobalt affects leaf nitrogen concentration, grain yield, and yield components of soybean

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 117, Issue 5, September/October 2025.
Abstract The high protein content in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) necessitates maximizing the nitrogen (N) absorption capacity and the biological N fixation process. This study aimed to evaluate whether foliar application of molybdenum (Mo) combined with cobalt (Co) enhances the productivity, yield components, N content, and protein and oil ...

The Role of Proteins in the Sensory Perception/Organoleptic Properties of Food

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, Volume 1, Issue 3, Page 196-215, September 2025.
Protein structure controls sensory attributes such as flavor, texture, and aroma. This can occur during amino acid breakdown, Maillard reactions and lipid–protein interactions which generate flavor profiles. Bioactive peptides also provide taste and health benefits.
