Experimental Eye Research, 1971Those factors that alter the rate of glucose transport across the lens fiber membrane do not significantly influence the rate of glycolysis. Changes in the rate of glucose entry into the lens fiber, both by diffusion and facilitated transport, appear to follow, not induce, changes in glycolytic rate.
