Monoclonal antibodies against glycophorins
Revue Francaise de Transfusion et Immuno-hématologie, 1988Glycophorins of human erythrocytes have been extensively studied and the structure of three of them is fully (glycophorins A and C) or almost fully (glycophorin B) known [1, 2]. Glycophorins span the erythrocyte membrane and their NH 2 -terminal domains exposed at the cell surface are heavily glycosylated.

Monoclonal anti-glycophorin antibodies
Revue Francaise de Transfusion et Immuno-hématologie, 1988The MRC Blood group Unit offered to test the anti- glycophorin antibodies against cells with unsual MN phenotypes. The antibodies were first tested against cells of common MN phenotype to determine their apparent specificities and optimum dilution.

Stone (St(a)) is a variant antigen carried on human erythrocyte MNSs glycophorins (GPSt(a)) that are genetically associated with splicing mutations in GPA genes or with hybrid formation between GPA and GPB genes. Here we identify the first and rare gene conversion event in which GPE, the third member of the family, recombined with GPA, giving rise to a

Antigenicity of rat erythrocyte glycophorins
Immunology Letters, 1988The relationship between rat red blood cell (RBC) glycophorins and the antigens recognised by anti-rat RBC antibodies was examined. Initially, murine monoclonal antibodies specific for surface epitopes on whole rat RBCs were tested for their reactivity with RBC membranes on Western blots and two were found which reacted with blotted antigens.
