Binding of lithium diiodosalicylate to glycophorin
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1978Glycophorin was purified from human erythrocyte ghosts by the lithium diiodosalicylate -phenol procedure utilizing 125I-labeled lithium diiodosalicylate. The glycophorin preparation was found to contain 8.9 +/- 2.1 mol lithium diiodosalicylate per mol glycophorin.

1. The lithium diiodosalicylate/phenol method, widely employed for the isolation of membrane sialoglycoproteins (glycophorins) from mammalian erythrocytes, was applied for the first time to the purification of homologous glycoproteins from rat erythrocyte membranes. 2. The resulting preparations showed to be composed of four components, fractionated on

Glycophorin a expression in malignant hematopoiesis
American Journal of Hematology, 1983AbstractTwo hundred twenty‐nine patients with hematopoietic malignancies were tested for reactivity with a monoclonal anti‐human glycophorin A antibody. One hundred twenty‐three of these cases were classified as acute leukemias of either the myeloid, lymphoid, erythroid, or undifferentiated type.

Lipid phase states influence glycophorin reconstitution
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1980Reconstitution of glycophorin into dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine and sphingomyelin vesicles was sub-maximal below the phase transition temperatures of these lipids. Reconstitution of glycophorin into diisostearoyl phosphatidylcholine and dioleoyl phosphatidylcholine liposomes was maximal within a range of temperatures below the phase transition ...

Characterization of anti-glycophorin monoclonal antibodies
Revue Francaise de Transfusion et Immuno-hématologie, 1988This group of mouse monoclonal reagents comprised 31 different antibodies, 19 in the form of culture supernatants and 12 as ascitic fluids. The isotypes of antibodies in supernatant form were determined using a sandwich ELISA immunodot assay, before performing initial serological and physicochemical characterisation by microplate haemagglutination ...

Serological Characters Located on Glycophorin C and Glycophorin D
1995The high-incidence antigens of the Gerbich group were first described by Rosenfield et al. [42] in 1960. Later a complex system comprising several non-allelic antigens was identified, of which to date four specificities have been defined — Ge1, Ge2, Ge3 [8,33], and Ge4 [35].

The reactivities against seven hemagglutinins including influenza A and B viruses of six sialoglycoprotein (glycophorin) fractions, M-Frs.1-3 and N-Frs.1-3, separated from human OMs and ONs erythrocyte membranes by a combination of the LIS-phenol method and gel filtration were studied.

A family study of multiple mutations of alpha and delta glycophorins (glycophorins A and B)
Human Genetics, 1988Glycophorins alpha and delta are the carriers of the antigens of the MNSs blood system; this report documents the presence of three glycophorin mutations in two individuals of a 16 member family. Erythrocytes were examined by serology, sodium dodecyl sulfate electrophoresis, and immunoblotting.

Proton NMR studies of vesicles incorporating glycophorin
Biophysical Chemistry, 1981The effects of incorporation of glycophorin, the major sialoglycoprotein of the human erythrocyte membrane, on the lipid of small vesicles have been studied using proton NMR and electron microscopy. In contrast to the incorporation of other peptides, the major effect is apparently the clustering of vesicles without fusion.
