Influence of water stress and surfactant on the efficacy, absorption, and translocation of glyphosate

Weed Science, 1998
Black nightshade was subjected to two degrees of water stress by adding polyethylene glycol 20,000 (PEG) to the nutrient solution 5 d before treatment with glyphosate. The ED50values for glyphosate, determined from dose-response curves, demonstrated that both degrees of water stress strongly increased the ED50, with and without the surfactant Ethomeen ...

Pre‐harvest retting of flax with glyphosate: effect of growth stage at application on uptake, translocation and efficacy of glyphosate

Annals of Applied Biology, 1985
SUMMARYFlax cv. Hera was grown in pots at a density of 2000 plants/m2. At various stages of maturity plants were either sprayed with glyphosate (Roundup, Monsanto plc) at a rate equivalent to 1.4 kg a.e./ha or the uppermost leaves of the main stem were treated with 14C‐glyphosate. Uniform desiccation to greater than 80% DM within 5 wk was obtained with

Spray retention, foliar uptake and translocation of glufosinate and glyphosate in Ambrosia artemisiifolia

Weed Research, 2006
Summary Ambrosia artemisiifolia plants exhibit stomata on both leaf surfaces and three types of trichomes: (i) small (<50 μm) spherical or ovoid, (ii) medium‐sized (50–100 μm) and (iii) long (100–200 μm) and sharp. Only the long and sharp trichomes were stained with AgNO3, indicating the presence of hydrophilic domains.

Influence of glyphosate on uptake and translocation of calcium ion in soybean seedlings

Weed Research, 1983
SummaryCalcium ion in hydroponic solution with glyphosate [N‐phosphonomethyl (glycine)] did not significantly influence the efficacy of the herbicide in reducing growth of soybean (Glycine max) seedlings. Data from atomic absorption spectroscopy studies revealed that glyphosate reduced Ca2+ uptake and translocation, whether supplied alone or with other

Glyphosate resistance in four different populations of Lolium rigidum is associated with reduced translocation of glyphosate to meristematic zones

Weed Research, 2004
SummaryWeed populations with resistance to glyphosate have evolved over the last 7 years, since the discovery of the first glyphosate‐resistant populations of Lolium rigidum in Australia. Four populations of L. rigidum from cropping, horticultural and viticultural areas in New South Wales and South Australia were tested for resistance to glyphosate by ...

Resistance to glyphosate inLolium rigidum.II. Uptake, translocation, and metabolism

Weed Science, 1999
Experiments were conducted to determine potential mechanisms of glyphosate resistance inLolium rigidumfrom Australia.14C-Glyphosate uptake, translocation, and metabolism were compared between resistant (R) and sensitive (S) biotypes. The R seed (48118a) represented the F1progenies of plants having survived a 1.73-kg ae ha−1(4.8 L ha−1) application of a

Glyphosate Injury, Rainfastness, Absorption, and Translocation in Purple Nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus)

Weed Technology, 1999
Greenhouse and laboratory experiments were conducted to study activity, rainfastness, absorption, and translocation of glyphosate with and without a nonionic organosilicone surfactant in purple nutsedge. Purple nutsedge responded differently to glyphosate depending on growth stage.

Uptake, translocation, metabolism and selectivity of glyphosate in Canada thistle and leafy spurge

Weed Research, 1976
Summary:The uptake, translocation and metabolism of glyphosate [N‐(phosphonomethyl) glycine] by Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop.) (susceptible) and leafy spurge (Euphorbia esula (L.)) (resistant) were examined in an attempt to elucidate the nature of the differential sensitivity.

Translocation of Glyphosate, Quizalofop, and Sucrose in Quackgrass (Elytrigia repens) Biotypes

Weed Science, 1993
The translocation pattern and distribution in rhizomes of14C-glyphosate,14C-quizalofop, and14C-sucrose was examined in five quackgrass biotypes. Translocation of radioactivity in the different plant parts varied among biotypes. Translocation in the whole plant after treatment with the three14C-chemicals varied among biotypes but was not correlated with

Reduced Glyphosate Translocation in Two Glyphosate-Resistant Populations of Rigid Ryegrass (Lolium rigidum) from Fence Lines in South Australia

Weed Science, 2014
Populations of rigid ryegrass with resistance to glyphosate have started to become a problem on fence lines of cropping fields of southern Australian farms. Seed of rigid ryegrass plants that survived glyphosate application were collected from two fence line locations in Clare, South Australia.
