Absorption and translocation of glyphosate with conventional and organosilicone adjuvants
Weed Biology and Management, 2008This study was conducted to determine the effects of three organosilicone‐based and six conventional organic adjuvants on the absorption and translocation of 14C‐glyphosate in guineagrass and redroot pigweed. The organosilicone adjuvants produced rapid absorption of the 14C‐glyphosate into the redroot pigweed leaves, reaching maximum absorption within ...

Absorption, Action, and Translocation of Glyphosate
Weed Science, 1975Radioactive glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] is rapidly absorbed with a large portion of the 14C translocated to the rhizomes and untreated shoots of quackgrass [Agropyron repens (L.) Beauv.]. The adjuvant used with glyphosate was important in determining its phytotoxicity to quackgrass.

Resistance to glyphosate from altered herbicide translocation patterns
Pest Management Science, 2007AbstractGlyphosate‐resistant weeds have evolved as a result of the intensive use of glyphosate for weed control. An alteration in the way glyphosate is translocated within the plant has been identified as a mechanism of glyphosate resistance in populations of Lolium rigidum Gaud., L. multiflorum Lam. and Conyza canadensis (L.) Cronq. In these resistant

Absorption and Translocation of Glyphosate and Sucrose in Glyphosate-resistant Cotton
Weed Technology, 2007Studies were conducted to evaluate absorption and translocation of 14C-glyphosate in glyphosate-resistant (GR) cotton. Both commercial GR cotton events [glyphosate-resistant event 1, marketed as Roundup Ready®, released 1997 (GRE1), and glyphosate-resistant event 2, marketed as Roundup Ready Flex®, released 2006 (GRE2)] were evaluated at the four-leaf ...

Glyphosate Translocation and Quackgrass Rhizome Bud Kill
Weed Science, 1976The effect of quackgrass [Agropyron repens (L.) Beauv.] rhizome length and foliage height on glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] translocation was determined on the basis of bud kill and 14 C-accumulation in quackgrass rhizomes. Foliar glyphosate treatments of 0.28 kg/ha resulted in significantly reduced quackgrass rhizome bud survival, and rates ...

Abstract Recent reports indicate that manganese (Mn), applied as a foliar fertilizer in tank mixtures with glyphosate, has the potential to antagonize glyphosate efficacy and reduce weed control. It was hypothesized that Mn2+ complexed with glyphosate in a similar manner to Ca2+, forming salts that were not readily absorbed and, thereby, reducing ...

Greenhouse studies were conducted to determine the influence of glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] and surfactant concentration on Canada thistle [Cirsium arvense(L.) Scop. # CIRAR] control. Five, 10, and 30% (v/v) solutions of the commercial formulation of glyphosate (356 g ae/L glyphosate and 178 g ai/L MON 0818) applied in 2-μl droplets to ...

Glyphosate efficacy, absorption, and translocation in pitted morningglory (Ipomoea lacunosa)
Weed Science, 2005Abstract Greenhouse and laboratory studies were conducted to examine the effects of site of plant exposure to glyphosate spray on efficacy, absorption, and translocation in pitted morningglory. Absorption of 14C-glyphosate in four-leaf pitted morningglory gradually increased with time from 19% at 1 h after treatment (HAT) to 44% at 192 HAT.

The application of glyphosate to coffee crops can cause injuries to plants. Fertiactyl® foliar fertilizer reduces injuries when mixed with glyphosate; however, it is important to establish which mechanisms are responsible for this protective action. This study aimed to evaluate the absorption and translocation of glyphosate applied separately and in ...
