Crash Behavior of DP800–DP1000 Advanced High‐Strength Steel’s Dissimilar Resistance Spot Welded Joints Under Quasi‐static and High Strain Rates

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The high‐strain‐rate behavior of resistance spot‐welded DP800–DP1000 joints is investigated. Results show that microstructural gradients across BM–HAZ–FZ govern hardness, strain rate sensitivity, and failure modes. While strength increases with strain rate, energy absorption is controlled by ductility, with DP800–DP800 joints showing superior ...

Effect of PWHT and Electrical Parameters on Austenitic Phase, Sigma Phase and Corrosion in Duplex Steels S32205

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 4, April 2026.
Welding power and post‐weld heat treatment (PWHT) at 850°C influence phase transformations in S32205 duplex stainless steel, promoting sigma phase formation and reducing corrosion resistance. PWHT at 850°C also replicates HAZ‐like microstructures in base metal, enabling improved characterization of weld joint properties.

Fatigue Lifetime Assessment of HFMI‐Treated Welded Joints According to the Peak Stress Method

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 790-819, March 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐frequency mechanical impact (HFMI) is an effective post‐weld treatment that enhances fatigue strength by inducing compressive residual stresses, localized strain hardening, and increasing weld toe radii. The peak stress method (PSM) was recently extended to evaluate the fatigue strength of HFMI‐treated steel joints under uniaxial loading ...

Buckling resistance and residual stresses of welded HSS box columns

open access: yesSteel Construction, Volume 19, Issue 1, Page 37-49, February 2026.
Abstract Welded box columns made of high‐strength steels (HSS) are characterized by high buckling resistance and low self‐weight. The residual stresses introduced by the welding process are of particular importance. In the area of the weld seams, the cooling process creates residual tensile stresses that are in equilibrium with the compression stresses

Techno-Economic Analysis of Hybrid Layered Manufacturing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Subtractive manufacturing (CNC machining) has high quality of geometric and material properties but is slow, costly and infeasible in some cases; additive manufacturing (RP) is just the opposite.
