Development of Welding Consumables for GMAW and FCAW [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Welding and Joining, 2017

Corrosion Behavior of Additively Manufactured Steels: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 10, Page 51-79, October 2025.
This review explores the corrosion behavior of various steel types, including austenitic, martensitic, duplex, low‐alloy, and maraging steels, produced via additive manufacturing (AM). It discusses how AM impacts material properties, such as grain structure and the formation of defects like porosity, and highlights the importance of optimizing process ...

Experimental investigation of the influence of the HAZ on the strength of welded T‐joints made of HSS

open access: yesSteel Construction, Volume 18, Issue 3, Page 209-222, September 2025.
Abstract The welding process introduces heat, which may cause softening in the heat‐affected zone (HAZ) of high‐strength steels (HSS). In welded components such as hollow section joints, this localised reduction in strength can reduce the load‐bearing capacity by promoting early failure of the joint and decreasing plastic design strength.

Acoustic anisotropy as a factor to determine residual stresses in GMAW and CW-GMAW welds

open access: yesREVISTA DELOS
In the areas of construction and maintenance of welded implements, the acoustic anisotropy of the as received material exerts a great influence on the generated residual stresses levels. In this context, several measurements were taken in order to obtain the acoustic anisotropy, as well as the residual stresses values of welds in simple deposition ...

Low‐Cycle Fatigue Performance of Directed Energy Deposited and Conventionally Manufactured Hybrid Gas Tungsten Arc‐Welded Duplex Stainless Steel Joints

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 26, Issue 23, December 2024.
The present work reveals novel results on the mircrostructure evolution and in particular the structural integrity of gas tungsten arc‐welded joints of directed energy deposition arc and as‐rolled standard duplex stainless steels compared to counterparts of the nonwelded base material as well as similar weldments of as‐rolled sheets.

Cyber‐physical‐based welding systems: Components and implementation strategies

open access: yesIET Cyber-Physical Systems: Theory &Applications, Volume 9, Issue 4, Page 293-312, December 2024.
Increasing manufacturing efficiency means making digitalisation feasible for all technologies, including welding, given today's challenges. It can be shown that the digital migration of specific sub‐domains (e.g. visual inspection of the weld seam during quality assurance) is significantly more challenging and unimaginable without artificial ...

Preventing columnar grains growth during hybrid wire arc additive manufacturing of austenitic stainless steel 316L

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 6, Issue 11, November 2024.
WAAM process produce a wall structure full of long and large columnar grains, which can be improved by applying hot forging process, proper buildup process, and correct forging force & temperature to prevent the growth of columnar grains and producing small and equiaxed grains instead.
