Quantification of grain boundary effects on the geometrically necessary dislocation density evolution and strain hardening of polycrystalline Mg4Al using in situ tensile testing in scanning electron microscope and HR-EBSD

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys
In situ tensile testing in a scanning electron microscope (SEM) in conjunction with high-resolution electron backscatter diffraction (HR-EBSD) under load was used to characterize the evolution of geometrically necessary dislocation (GND) densities at ...

Granular piston-probing in microgravity: powder compression, from densification to jamming

open access: yesnpj Microgravity, 2022
The macroscopic response of granular solids is determined by the microscopic fabric of force chains, which, in turn, is intimately linked to the history of the solid.

Effect of High Strain Rates on Adiabatic Shear Bands Evolution and Mechanical Performance of Dual-Phase Ti Alloy

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2022
In the present work, the adiabatic shear characteristics of our recently designed α + β dual-phase Ti alloy at different strain rates have been investigated by hat shaped specimen.

Integration of Low‐Voltage Nanoscale MoS2 Memristors on CMOS Microchips

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the first monolithic integration of nanoscale MoS2‐based memristors into the back‐end‐of‐line of foundry‐fabricated CMOS microchips in a one‐transistor‐one‐resistor (1T1R) architecture. The MoS2‐based 1T1R cells exhibit forming‐free, nonvolatile resistive switching with ultra‐low operating voltages, low cycle‐to‐cycle variability ...

The Role of Shape Commensurability in Chirality Transfer: Gold Nanoshape Solutes in a Discotic Nematic Liquid Crystal Solvent

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report on a suitable approach to predict the chirality “strength” and efficacy of chirality transfer from chiral nanoshape solutes to an achiral discotic nematic (ND) liquid crystal solvent. Highly efficacious chirality transfer based on shape commensurability between nanoshape solute (in the form of gold nanodiscs, GNDs) and a ND solvent was ...

The effect of 0.02–0.37 strain on the precipitation law of O phase colonies in Ti2AlNb-based alloy during aging

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
O phase is the main strengthening phase of the lightweight high-temperature structural material—Ti2AlNb-based alloy, its morphology, size and distribution have significant impact on the mechanical properties of the alloy.

Oxygen‐Tunnel Indium Tin Oxide Vertical Channel Transistors with Enhanced Current Density and Reliability for Monolithic 3D Compute‐In‐Memory Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxygen‐tunnel (OT) indium tin oxide (ITO) vertical channel transistors (VCTs) enable reliable, high‐density gain‐cell memory for monolithic 3D integration. A sandwiched SiN/SiO2/SiN OT stack selectively regulates oxygen transport, suppressing parasitic electrode oxidation while stabilizing channel oxygen vacancies, thereby suppressing carrier injection

Grain boundary inclination dependence of GN dislocation patterns and density in bicrystal model

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
Deformation behaviors of polycrystalline metals are quite complex, and we are not easy to directly investigate them; thus, analyses employing simple models such as bicrystals are required.

Evolution of twinning and shear bands in magnesium alloys during rolling at room and cryogenic temperature

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
Twinning and shear bands are two main deformation structures in magnesium alloys at low temperatures, however, the relationship between these two deformation structures is still under debate.

Microsphere‐Templated Conductive Syntactic Foams for Recyclable and Additively Manufactured Soft Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a microsphere‐templated strategy to fabricate reprocessable PEDOT:PSS syntactic foams with tunable porosity, stable conductivity, and 3D printability. In situ PEDOT:PSS coatings create a conductive network that maintains electrical performance at high void fractions.
