Goat-Mouse Hybridomas Secreting Goat Immunoglobulins
Hybridoma, 1990Monoclonal antibodies specific for an allotypic marker of goat IgG2 were used to select goat-mouse hybrid cells secreting goat IgG2. Four of these hybrid cell clones continued to synthesize goat IgG2 (5-15 micrograms/ml) for over eight months. They will be used to study goat IgG gene regulation.

Naturally occurring mycetomas were found in 3 goats. Two had mycetomas on their hind legs and the third on its left scapula. In 2 goats the causative agents were identified by culture, histopathology and serology as Actinomadura madurae. In the remaining goat diagnosis was based only on histopathology and the causative agent was considered to be A ...

Enterotoxaemia of sheep and goats occurs worldwide, but the condition in goats is poorly understood. The disease in goats is mostly caused by Clostridium perfringens type D, although the role of the toxins of this microorganism in the pathogenesis of the disease is not fully understood.

The presentations, although interesting and varied, were possibly not the most important part of this meeting. During tea breaks and meals, there were always intense conversations breaking out about various topics in bioseparation and validation. The demonstration session was also valuable, allowing delegates to see some of the products available and ...

Six cases of intersex goats were investigated. Five of these animals had testicular tissues (testes) situated prepubically inside a skin pouch. The testicular tissues of the sixth goat were attached to the sides of the urinary bladder. All of the four animals that were studied by radiography, surgical exploration and/or pathology had uterine tubular ...

Abstract Extract Sir:–We have recently encountered an epidemic of abortion and perinatal mortality in a large goat herd at Massey, north of Auckland. Fifty does are known to have aborted in a herd comprising 170 Saanen and Angora goats. Many more are thought to have aborted unnoticed early in gestation, judging from the high return rate in the herd ...
