Diffusive Behavior and Statistical Evolution of Sediment Transport From DNS‐DEM and Stochastic Models

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Sediment transport in rivers and channels can be understood as a diffusive phenomenon, where sediment particles separate as they move downstream. This diffusive behavior can be Fickian or anomalous (superdiffusive, subdiffusive, ballistic, etc.), depending on the time evolution of the sediment displacement variance.

Simulating drying and human impacts on river networks to evaluate biological quality indices performance through the lens of metacommunity theory

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
This work constitutes a first step towards developing simulation‐based assessments that incorporate catchment drying patterns to support biomonitoring of drying river networks. Our approach can inform stakeholders when current methods are likely to fail and contribute to decision‐making on whether adapting current methods is possible or developing new ...

Articulating Sovereignties: Struggles for Subaltern Hegemony in Ecuador and Bolivia

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 58, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines the cycles of articulation and disarticulation between working‐class and indigenous‐campesino movements in Ecuador and Bolivia. While the former advances national‐popular sovereignty, aiming to strengthen the state against imperialism, the latter defends community‐territorial sovereignty against internal colonialism ...

Exploring Pathways to the Persistence of Community Engagement in Co‐Management Across Social‐Ecological Conditions

open access: yesConservation Letters, Volume 19, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Evaluating sustained community engagement in co‐management is critical for designing durable governance with conservation potential, yet such persistence remains rarely assessed. We analyze 750 co‐management initiatives established under Chile's Territorial Use Rights for Fishing policy (1998–2021), examining persistence across conditions ...
