The Role of Chemistry Across Disciplines From Humanities to Life Sciences in Understanding Complexity and Emergence

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This study explores the origins of life by linking prebiotic chemistry, the emergence of information‐carrying molecules such as RNA and proteins, and philosophical questions about consciousness. The study emphasizes the role of molecular evolution in the Central Dogma and provides insights into the chemical origins of biology and the basis of life's ...

‘God of Gods’

open access: yesIndo-Iranian Journal
Abstract The Iranian flavour of the Chinese epithet of the Buddha, tianzhong tian 天中天, ‘god among gods,’ and its relationship with the Indo-Aryan parallel devātideva-, ‘foremost god of gods,’ have been repeatedly addressed. Past studies of the origin of the expressions sought to establish an ultimate connection to the Achaemenid royal title ‘king ...

Oral Celastrol Nanomedicine Targeting Intestinal Antigen‐Presenting Cells to Effectively Mitigate Autoimmune Uveitis via Gut‐Retina Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Oral nanoCEL exhibits effective intestinal targeting of antigen‐presenting cells and restores the Th17/Treg balance in lymph nodes and spleen, ultimately protecting the blood‐retinal barrier by inhibiting peripheral immune cell infiltration and suppressing retinal glial cell activation.

Dendritic Nano‐Based Slippery Coating by Synergistic Mechanical and Electrostatic Interactions with Persistent and Exceptional Combats Thrombosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel dendritic nano‐based slippery coating (DNSC), fabricated by encapsulating carboxyl silicone oil within amino dendritic silica nanoparticles and co‐embedding them in an epoxy resin matrix. The dendritic architecture enhances nanoparticle dispersion in the matrix and establishes mechanical interlock.

Eradication of post‐lobectomy mucormycosis and bacterial empyema with intrapleural antimicrobial therapy in a patient with surgically resected Mycobacterium xenopi (non‐tuberculous Mycobacteria) pulmonary infection

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, 2023
Empyema thoracis is a collection of pus in the pleural space associated with pleural fibrin deposition. Treatment involves systemic antimicrobials, pleural drainage, intrapleural enzymes and sometimes decortication.

Cholesterol Promotes Lung Adenocarcinoma Brain Metastasis by Stabilizing EGFR Protein to Drive EMT, Metabolic Reprogramming, and Premetastatic Niche Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cholesterol is revealed as a multitasking fuel for lung adenocarcinoma brain metastasis: it locks EGFR at the membrane to sustain AKT/NF‐κB–driven glycolysis and EMT, loosens the blood–brain barrier by promoting Claudin‐5 loss, and rewires microglia through IL‐4R lipid‐raft–JAK1/STAT6 signaling.

Enzyme‐Activated MRI for In Vivo Glucose Imaging via a Biodegradable Chromium Nanoprobe

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Enzyme‐activated MRI (eaMRI) using a biodegradable CrGOx@Lip nanoprobe enables glucose‐specific imaging in vivo. GOx catalyzes glucose oxidation, triggering in situ formation of paramagnetic chromium gluconate and amplifying T1. This radiation‐free strategy maps tumor glucose uptake via the Warburg‐effect, quantifies hepatic glucose accumulation in ...

Can Radiological Visceral Adiposity Analysis in Acute Pancreatitis Aid in Identifying Underlying Etiology? Assessing the Clinical Potential of Quantitative Radiological Analyses of Visceral Adiposity

open access: yesJournal of Global Radiology
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the relationship between visceral adiposity and the possible etiologies of acute pancreatitis. Obesity creates low-grade inflammation and evidence supports an association between obesity and inflammatory conditions

Survival Outcomes of Gemcitabine–Cisplatin–S‐1 Versus Gemcitabine–Cisplatin in Unresectable Biliary Tract Cancer: A Multicenter Retrospective Study With a Focus on Conversion Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In this multicenter retrospective study conducted by the Biliary Tract Club, we compared survival outcomes between gemcitabine–cisplatin–S‐1 (GCS) and gemcitabine–cisplatin (GC) in patients with unresectable biliary tract cancer, with a particular focus on conversion surgery. GCS was associated with longer overall and progression‐free survival compared
