The use of gold and gold alloys in prosthetic dentistry – a literature review

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, 2015
Gold is a noble metal with very good chemical resistance. It also does not become oxidized in water or air. Pure gold has a bright yellow color and shine, and it is a heavy, but soft metal with huge plasticity and ductility.

Pd-Shaped Nanoparticles Modified by Gold ad-Atoms: Effects on Surface Structure and Activity Toward Glucose Electrooxidation

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
Palladium nanoparticles (Pd-NPs) with controlled distributions of sizes and shapes (nanospheres–Pd-NS-, nanocubes -Pd-NC-, and nanooctahedrons -Pd-NO-) are synthesized by wet chemistry methods and characterized by TEM/HRTEM.

Comportement anodique d’alliages or-cuivre en solution aqueuse de NaCl

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1973
The anodical behaviors of 50% Cu-Au alloys, having an ordered or disordered structure, were studied in aqueous solutions of chloride by means of different electrochemical methods.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for

PRINCIPAL COMPONENT ANALYSIS AND THERMOMECHANICAL PREFERENCE OF WHITE Au ALLOYS WITHOUT Ag

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai Chemia, 2020
Addition of different amounts of Cu and Ag to Au alloys, as well as some new elements (Zn and Cd), gives alloys of the different colour spectrum (from red to yellow) and different technological and metallurgical characteristics.

Effects of alloy composition in traditional Japanese shakudo patination.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
Japanese craftspeople have dominated the art of patinating copper-alloys since the 15th century, using precise alloy compositions and complicated patination processes in different hot solutions to create a variety of colours on swords fittings such as ...
