Sulfide Detection by Gold-Amalgam Microelectrodes in Artificial Wastewater

open access: yesChemosensors, 2020
Gold amalgam microelectrodes (GAMEs) have been characterized and successfully calibrated to measure >1.5 mM (30 mg L−1) sulfide in artificial wastewater (AWW) using cathodic stripping voltammetry (CSV).

Clinical resolution of oral lichenoid lesions after amalgam replacement: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Oral Biol Craniofac Res
Introduction Oral lichenoid lesions (OLLs) can mimic oral lichen planus but are often linked to contact with dental amalgam. Replacement with biocompatible materials has been associated with lesion resolution, yet prior evidence lacked quantitative ...

Patch Test Reactions to Dental Materials: A Retrospective Single-Centre Study. [PDF]

open access: yesContact Dermatitis
In this retrospective single‐centre study of 439 adults referred for suspected delayed‐type hypersensitivity to dental materials, 50.1% had at least one positive patch test reaction, most often to metals. Nickel (23.0%) and palladium (16.6%) pre‐dominated, whilst methacrylate positivity was uncommon (6.2%) and not fully captured by HEMA alone.

Determination of mercury and its fractionation products in samples from legacy use of mercury amalgam in gold processing in Randfontein, South Africa

open access: yesEmerging Contaminants, 2016
This study aimed at determining the levels of total mercury (THg) in tailings dams, soil, sediments and water samples collected in the vicinity of legacy mercury amalgam gold mines.

Ultrahigh Selective Colorimetric Quantification of Chromium(VI) Ions Based on Gold Amalgam Catalyst Oxidoreductase-like Activity in Water.

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2018
Hexavalent chromium ion (Cr6+) is one of the most toxic substances for plants, for animals, and is a confirmed human respiratory carcinogen. However, so far, there are few independent and efficient colorimetric methods for detection of Cr6+.

Electrocatalytic CO2 Reduction over Sn‐Cu Bimetallic Catalysts Synthesized via an Amalgamated Lithium Metal Method

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An amalgamated lithium metal method enables systematic control of Sn–Cu active‐site dimensions from isolated atoms to nanocrystallites. Increasing the metal loading shifts CO2 electroreduction selectivity from acetaldehyde on highly dispersed Sn–Cu sites to formate on Sn‐rich crystallites, revealing how bimetallic dispersion and local coordination ...

Biographies, ontological security and the socio‐spatial politics shaping teachers' mobility in remote Australia

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract The global teacher shortage continues to intensify, with disparate impacts across geographic and socio‐economic communities. In Queensland, Australia, where this study originates, post‐COVID teacher shortages have intensified workforce pressures, leaving several regional, rural and remote schools as some of the ‘hardest‐to‐staff’ in the ...

Advancing Theory and Practice Concerning CO2e Emissions: A Time‐Based Tool for Organisations

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although organisations are increasingly scrutinised on their CO2e emissions, economic growth is frequently encouraged. Eco‐efficiency–based initiatives—‘doing more with less’—could be a solution. The problem is that many organisations (e.g., smaller enterprises without access to specialist knowledge) have difficulties in gauging the impact of ...
