Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Sensitive method of determination of gold (III) using diacetyl monoxime isonicotinoyl hydrazone (DMIH)

open access: yesOrbital: The Electronic Journal of Chemistry, 2011
Gold (III) forms a yellow coloured water soluble complex with diacetyl monoxime isonicotinoyl hydrazone (DMIH) reagent in acidic buffer pH 4.5 with ?max at 361 nm. The molar absorptivity and Sandell’s sensitivity are 1.50X10 4 L .mol -1.cm-1 and

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The third spectrum of gold (Au III)

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards Section A: Physics and Chemistry, 1960
The spark spectrum of gold has been photographed in a helium atmosphere from 500 A to 6600 A. About 500 lines have been assigned to the third spectrum, Au III, and separated from those belonging to different stages of ionization, by observation of the polarity of the lines.

The Crystal Structure of the Gold(III) Complex, Tribromo(dibenzyl sulfide)gold(III) [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1988
Abstract The crystal structure of tribromo(dibenzyl sulfide) gold(III) has been determined. The crystal belongs to the triclinic system, with a=7.002(1), b=7.949(1), c=17.244(2) Å, α=88.83(1), β=79.52(1), and γ=66.35(1)°, with the space group P\bar1 and with Z=2.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Ortho-nitrophenyl complexes of gold(III) [PDF]

open access: yesInorganica Chimica Acta, 1982
Many organogold complexes have been prepared using Grignard or organolithium reagents [l] , as well as organothallium [2] or organotin [3] complexes. We have recently shown that organomercury compounds can also be used for the synthesis of organogold(II1) complexes which are inaccessible through other routes [4]. Many authors have used organomercurials

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Efficacy of salmeterol/fluticasone propionate by GOLD stage of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: analysis from the randomised, placebo-controlled TORCH study

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2009
Background The efficacy of inhaled salmeterol plus fluticasone propionate (SFC) in patients with severe or very severe COPD is well documented. However, there are only limited data about the influence of GOLD severity staging on the effectiveness of SFC,
