Mechanisms of Cytotoxicity of Selected Organogold(III) Compounds [PDF]
The effects of a few cytotoxic organogold(III) compounds on ovarian A2780 human cancer cells were investigated in comparison to cisplatin and oxaliplatin. The tested compounds produced significant antiproliferative effects and promoted apoptosis to a greater extent than platinum drugs while causing only modest cell cycle modifications.

Aurophilic interaction-based aggregation of gem-digold(I) aryls towards high spin-orbit coupling and strong phosphorescence [PDF]
Luminescent gold(I) compounds have attracted intensive attention due to anticipated strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC) resulting from heavy atom effect of gold atoms. However, some mononuclear gold(I) compounds are barely satisfactory. Here, we unveil that

Solution chemistry and cytotoxic properties of novel organogold(III) compounds [PDF]
The solution behaviour of some novel organogold(III) compounds was investigated, and their cytotoxic properties evaluated against a few human tumour cell lines (A2780/S, A2780/R, MCF7, HT29 and A549). Specifically, the following compounds were considered: [Au(bipy(dmb)-H)(2,6-xylidine-H)][PF(6)] (AuXyl) and [Au(bipy(dmb)-H)(p-toluidine-H)][PF(6 ...

An Organogold Compound as Potential Antimicrobial Agent against Drug-Resistant Bacteria: Initial Mechanistic Insights. [PDF]
AbstractThe rise of antimicrobial resistance has necessitated novel strategies to efficiently combat pathogenic bacteria. Metal‐based compounds have been proven as a possible alternative to classical organic drugs. Here, we have assessed the antibacterial activity of seven gold complexes of different families. One compound, a cyclometalated Au(III) C^N

Competitive Profiling of Ligandable Cysteines in Staphylococcus aureus with an Organogold Compound [PDF]
With the idea of exploiting metal-templated reactions to achieve selective modification of cysteines in proteins for antibacterial applications, an organometallic cyclometalated Au(III) compound was explored in a competitive chemoproteomic approach based on the isoDTB-ABPP (isotopically labelled desthiobiotin azide-activity-based protein profiling ...

The Beauty of Gold: Knowledge of Mechanisms Leads to Different Applications of Organogold Compounds in Medicine and Catalysis [PDF]
This review is aimed at providing a concise overview of the results obtained by our group in the field of organometallic chemistry of gold. Therefore, a selection of examples amongst the most extensively explored families of bioactive gold complexes — Au(I) N-heterocyclic carbenes and cyclometalated Au(III) compounds — is presented.
