A stochastic gompertz model with hereditary effect
Journal of Mathematical Biology, 1979In this paper we have studied a stochastic version of the Gompertz model for population growth of a single species after incorporating the aspect of heredity. Various statistical characteristics--the mean-value function, covariance-kernel, etc.--are evaluated for a delta-correlated process and their asymptotic values obtained.

The Gompertz function does not measure ageing
Biogerontology, 2001The Gompertz transform of the distribution function for the age at death expresses mortality in a form R = R0e(alphat) where R0 is the mortality at time zero and alpha is the rate of increase of mortality, frequently taken as the rate of ageing. The slope of the line alpha is frequently used as a measure of the rate of ageing.
