Omnibus goodness‐of‐fit tests for univariate continuous distributions based on trigonometric moments

open access: yesStatistica Neerlandica, Volume 80, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT We propose a new omnibus goodness‐of‐fit test based on trigonometric moments of probability‐integral‐transformed data. The test builds on the framework of the LK test introduced by Langholz and Kronmal [J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 86 (1991), 1077–1084], but fully exploits the covariance structure of the associated trigonometric statistics.

The Gompertz distribution and its applications.

open access: yesGenus, 1994
"In this paper we study the underlying Gompertz distribution and develop formulae for the moments and other characteristics of this useful but apparently unknown distribution. We find that the skewness and kurtosis of the distribution are fixed constants independent of the two distribution parameters, and this would appear to be the reason for the ...

Modelling the development of world records in running [PDF]

open access: yes
We model the development of world records of metric running events from the 100 meter dash to the marathon for men and women. First, we review methods to fit time-series curves of world records in general. We discuss methods to estimate curves and review

Hybrid Firefly–Bayesian Neural Network Estimation for Reliable Modeling of the Inverse Gompertz–Gumbel Family and NHPP Systems: Properties and Comparative Evaluation

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA)
The idea commonly accepted is that probability distributions play a major role in reliability modeling, whereas classical models are often not flexible enough to accommodate the complex behavior of life data.

Characterizations and Kullback-Leibler Divergence of Gompertz Distributions

open access: yesCoRR, 2014
In this note, we characterize the Gompertz distribution in terms of extreme value distributions and point out that it implicitly models the interplay of two antagonistic growth processes. In addition, we derive a closed form expressions for the Kullback-Leibler divergence between two Gompertz Distributions. Although the latter is rather easy to obtain,

Cubic Transmuted Gompertz-Makeham Distribution

open access: yes, 2018
ABSTRACT We introduce a cubic rank transmuted Gompertz-Makeham distribution that extends the standard Gompertz-Makeham model by incorporating two more parameters into its distribution functions. We study the main statistical properties of the cubic transmuted model, including its hazard rate function, moment-generating function, moments ...

Linking period and cohort life-expectancy linear increases in Gompertz proportional hazards models [PDF]

open access: yes
In a Gompertz mortality model with constant yearly improvements at all ages, linear increases in period life expectancy correspond to linear increases in the respective cohort life expectancy.

The Gompertz-Makeham distribution

open access: yes, 1997
This work is about the Gompertz-Makeham distribution. The distribution has been applied plenty of times. The properties of the Gompertz-Makeham distribution investigated in this work are unimodality of the Gompertz-Makeham distribution and relationship between the median value and the mean residual life time of the Gompertz-Makeham distribution.
