[Acoustic behavior of Fenestra bohlsii Giglio-Tos (Orthoptera: Acrididae: Gomphocerinae)].
Neotropical entomology, 2011The acoustic behavior of Fenestra bohlsii Giglio-Tos is described for the first time. The sounds and behaviors were observed and registered in captivity. The signals were digitized with the Sound-Blaster AWE64 Gold program and analysed with the Avisoft SAS Lab Pro 30 PC for MS Windows software.

NEW RECORDS OF RHAMMATOCERUS VIATORIUS (ORTHOPTERA: ACRIDIDAE: GOMPHOCERINAE) FROM TEXAS, U.S.A
Entomological News, 2007The grasshopper Rhammatocerus viatorius (Saussure) occurs from South America northward to the southwestern United States (Otte 1981). In the United States, it occurs in south central Arizona, and there are two specimens collected in 1930 and 1931 from the Chinati Mountains in Presidio County (Figure 1) in Trans-Pecos Texas (Tinkham 1948). These are the

Communicative behaviour of nine species of Australian grasshoppers (seven Oedipodinae and two Gomphocerinae) is described and compared to North American and European species. Most signal types are represented in all three continents. Most similarities between the three groups are probably due to the retention of characteristics present in common ...

ABSTRACT The evolution of courtship behaviour in Gomphocerinae was evaluated via estimating a phylogenetic signal and an ancestral character state reconstruction of the song and visual characters. Analyses of courtship behaviour in 85 species allowed us to define five universal characters reflecting general ...

A comparative study of the stridulatory files of the British Gomphocerinae (Orthoptera: Acrididae)
Journal of Natural History, 1976Summary Samples of 20 specimens of each of the British species of Gomphocerinae were used as the basis of a comparative study of their stridulatory files. Although agreeing in general with earlier studies based on German samples, the British samples were found to have shorter files (both absolutely and in relation to the length of the hind femur) with ...
