Circannual Rhythms of Gonadal Maturation in Female Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
Journal of Biological Rhythms, 1991Individually identified, 2-year-old female rainbow trout were maintained for up to 51 months on a constant schedule of 6 hr light and 18 hr darkness (LD 6:18), constant temperature (8.5-9.0°C), and constant feeding rate. The fish exhibited free-running circannual rhythms of gonadal maturation and ovulation, which were self-sustaining for up to three ...

GONADAL DYSGENESIS: ON MATURE REFLECTION!
Age and Ageing, 1988It is unusual for disorders of sexual differentiation to be first diagnosed in old age. We describe a case of 46XY pure gonadal dysgenesis, aged 93 years at the time of diagnosis, the oldest patient with this disorder ever reported.

Skeletal Maturation in Streak Gonad Syndrome
Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 1988Skeletal ages of patients with streak gonad syndrome were determined by the Schinz and TW2 methods as well as by bone scans. Seventy-three subjects were examined. They were classified according to their chromosomal complement, body height, chronological age and previous hormonal treatment. Retarded bone age was a common finding on the hand, wrist, hip,

Since the early 1980s, the population of European eels (Anguilla anguilla) has dramatically declined. Nowadays, the European eel is listed on the red list of threatened species (IUCN Red List) and is considered as critically endangered of extinction. Pollution is one of the putative causes for the collapse of this species. Among their possible effects,

ADRENAL AND GONADAL STEROIDS IN GIRLS DURING SEXUAL MATURATION
Clinical Endocrinology, 1978SUMMARYThe peripheral venous plasma concentrations of gonadotrophins (LH and FSH), prolactin (Prl), cortisol, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHA), dehydroepiandrosterone‐sulphate (DHA‐S), pregnenolone (Δ5P), progesterone (P), 17‐hydroxyprogesterone (17P), androstenedione (A), testosterone (T), dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and oestradiol (E2) were measured in ...

Effect of infantile stimulation on gonadal maturation of rats
Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 1968Abstract The present study investigated the effect of preweaning handling on gonadal maturation of rats. Analysis of the results indicated that the apparent variation between handled and non-handled animals was primarily due to between litter differences. The findings of the study emphasize the importance of considering differences between litters in

Maturation of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal Negative Feedback System
Endocrinology, 1969A series of experiments was performed in order to determine the age at which circulating steroids from the ovaries first begin to suppress gonadotropin secretion. Female Sprague- Dawley rats were bilaterally ovariectomized or sham-operated within 24 hr of birth and sacrificed at 5,10, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 75 days of age.

Neuropeptide Y in the human prenatal and mature gonads
Neuropeptides, 1996In the present paper we have examined the distribution and identity of neuropeptide Y (NPY) immunoreactivity in the prenatal and mature human gonads. Tissue specimens were obtained from prenatal gonads (gestational age < 42 weeks) of induced abortions, premature birth and stillbirths.
