Sexually differentiated regulation of GnRH release by gonadal steroid hormones in sheep [PDF]
Exposure of the sheep fetus to testosterone from day 30 to day 90 of a 147 day gestation causes the neurones that control GnRH secretion, the GnRH neuronal network, to become organized in a sex-specific manner. After androgen exposure in utero, GnRH neurones are activated in a sexually differentiated pattern by gonadal steroid hormones.

In ADR‐induced longevity in C. elegans, neuronal BLI‐4 processes neuropeptides, which are then released with the assistance of UNC‐31 and GOLG‐2. ABSTRACT Dietary restriction (DR) is a well‐established method for extending lifespan across various species, including C. elegans.

Stress hormones predict hyperbolic time-discount rates six months later in adults [PDF]
Objectives: Stress hormones have been associated with temporal discounting. Although time-discount rate is shown to be stable over a long term, no study to date examines whether individual differences in stress hormones could predict individuals' time-discount rates in the relatively distant future (e.g., six month later), which is of interest in ...

FMO Interaction Energy between 17$β$-Estradiol, 17$α$-Estradiol and Human Estrogen Receptor $α$ [PDF]
The estrogen receptor is a nuclear hormone receptor activated by the natural steroid hormone 17$\beta$-estradiol (E2). Fragment molecular orbital (FMO) calculations were performed which allowed us to obtain the interaction energy ($E_{int}$) between E2, 17$\alpha$-estradiol (17$\alpha$-E2) and the human estrogen receptor $\alpha$ ligand-binding domain.

Hormonal Factors Moderate the Associations Between Vascular Risk Factors and White Matter Hyperintensities [PDF]
Objective: To examine the moderation effects of hormonal factors on the associations between vascular risk factors and white matter hyperintensities (WMH) in men and women, separately. Methods: WMH were automatically segmented and quantified in the UK Biobank dataset (N = 18,294). Generalised linear models were applied to examine 1) the main effects of

Functional Divergence of Glycoprotein Hormone Receptors [PDF]
Two lamprey glycroprotein hormone receptors (lGpH-R I and II) highly similar with gnathostome GpH-Rs were cloned from sea lamprey testes and thyroid, respectively.

Associations of plasma sex‐related hormone and protein levels and alcohol dependence
Abstract Background and Aims Sex‐related hormones and proteins may underlie sex differences in alcohol use disorder characteristics and consequences. Previous reports suggest steroid sex hormones may influence alcohol consumption behaviors while proteins that regulate their circulation levels are rarely investigated.

Elevated fetal steroidogenic activity in autism [PDF]
Autism affects males more than females, giving rise to the idea that the influence of steroid hormones on early fetal brain development may be one important early biological risk factor.

Genomic technologies and the diagnosis of 46, XY differences of sex development
Abstract Differences/disorders of sex development can be caused by disruptions to the molecular and cellular mechanisms that control development and sex determination of the reproductive organs with 1:100 live births affected. Multiple genes are associated with 46, XY differences/disorders of sex development that can cause varying clinical phenotypes ...

Protective effects of gonadal hormones on spinal motoneurons following spinal cord injury
Spinal cord injury (SCI) results in lesions that destroy tissue and disrupt spinal tracts, producing deficits in locomotor and autonomic function. The majority of treatment strategies after SCI have concentrated on the damaged spinal cord, for example ...
