Pituitary gonadotropins and autoimmunity
Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 2014Autoimmune disease occurs when the body produces an inappropriate immune response against its own tissues producing antibodies, called autoantibodies, reacting to specific antigens. Studies regarding the presence of an autoimmune process specifically involving gonadotropins date from over than 20 years ago, when antibodies to gonadotropic-secreting ...

The gonadotropins, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), are glycoproteins produced by gonadotrope cells of the anterior pituitary gland. The two hormones act on somatic cells of the gonads in both males and females to regulate fundamental aspects of reproductive physiology, including gametogenesis and steroidogenesis.

Properties of common carp gonadotropin I and gonadotropin II
General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1992Two gonadotropins, GtH I and GtH II, were extracted with 35% ethanol-10% ammonium acetate, pH 6.1, from female common carp pituitary glands and purified by ion-exchange chromatography on a DE-52 column followed by gel filtration on a Sephadex G-75 column.

The Gonadotropin Response of Men with Varicoceles to Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone
Fertility and Sterility, 1980The serum gonadotropin and testosterone responses to 100 micrograms of intravenously administered gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) were studied, over 180 minutes, in four groups of men: severely oligospermic men with varicoceles and sperm densities less than 10 million/ml, men with varicoceles and sperm densities greater than 10 million/ml ...

Gonadotropin response to gonadotropin releasing hormone in acute schizophrenia
Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry, 1984To evaluate hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis in acute schizophrenia, plasma FSH and LH concentrations were estimated both in basal conditions and after stimulation with gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH, 200 micrograms i.v.) in 14 young male patients with acute schizophrenia and in a age-matched group of 14 healthy male controls. Basal plasma PRL

Regulation of Human Gonadotropins
Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 1970Serum LH, FSH and progesterone concentrations and urinary pregnanediol excretion were quantitated in 5 regularly menstruating women who received 0.5 mg chlormadinone acetate for periods ranging from 51 to 60 days. These gonadotropic hormone and steroid hormones were also measured during the months before and after medication administration.

Enzymatic Radioiodination of Gonadotropins
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1972A method is described for the enzymatic radioiodination of HCG, human follicle stimulating hormone (HFSH) and human luteinizing hormone (HLH) by a system consisting of lactoperoxidase, hydrogen peroxide and Na 125I. The hormones differed in their susceptibility to iodination.

Radioimmunoassay of Gonadotropins
1969Dr. Franchimont has developed techniques for the estimation of somatotrophic hormones and for follicle-stimulating and luteinizing gonadotropins as well. With the aid of these methods he has examined secretion of these hormones in healthy volunteers and in patients suffering from various disorders.

Immunochemical mapping of gonadotropins
Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1996As a glycoprotein hormone, human chorionic gonadotropic (hCG) is not a single molecular entity but this term rather comprises an array of molecular variants such as hCG, hCG beta, hCGn, hCG beta n, hCG beta cf, -CTPhCG, hCG beta CTP, deglyhCG, asialohCG, hCGav and the closely related molecules hLH, hLH beta and hLH beta ef.

Prostaglandins and Gonadotropin Secretion
Neuroendocrinology, 1974Intracarotid injections of PGE1 into castrated-estrogen-pretreated female rats are followed by a rapid and prolonged release of LH, but have no important effects on FSH secretion ...
