Gonadotropin response to gonadotropin releasing hormone in acute schizophrenia

Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry, 1984
To evaluate hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis in acute schizophrenia, plasma FSH and LH concentrations were estimated both in basal conditions and after stimulation with gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH, 200 micrograms i.v.) in 14 young male patients with acute schizophrenia and in a age-matched group of 14 healthy male controls. Basal plasma PRL

Changes with age in levels of serum gonadotropins, prolactin and gonadal steroids in prepubertal male and female rats.

Endocrinology, 1975
Radioimmunological determination of serum LH, FSH, and estradiol concentrations in prepubertal female rats demonstrates the temporal coincidence of increased serum levels of these hormones between days 9 and 21.

Regulation of Human Gonadotropins

Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 1970
Serum LH, FSH and progesterone concentrations and urinary pregnanediol excretion were quantitated in 5 regularly menstruating women who received 0.5 mg chlormadinone acetate for periods ranging from 51 to 60 days. These gonadotropic hormone and steroid hormones were also measured during the months before and after medication administration.

Enzymatic Radioiodination of Gonadotropins

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1972
A method is described for the enzymatic radioiodination of HCG, human follicle stimulating hormone (HFSH) and human luteinizing hormone (HLH) by a system consisting of lactoperoxidase, hydrogen peroxide and Na 125I. The hormones differed in their susceptibility to iodination.

Radioimmunoassay of Gonadotropins

1969
Dr. Franchimont has developed techniques for the estimation of somatotrophic hormones and for follicle-stimulating and luteinizing gonadotropins as well. With the aid of these methods he has examined secretion of these hormones in healthy volunteers and in patients suffering from various disorders.

Immunochemical mapping of gonadotropins

Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1996
As a glycoprotein hormone, human chorionic gonadotropic (hCG) is not a single molecular entity but this term rather comprises an array of molecular variants such as hCG, hCG beta, hCGn, hCG beta n, hCG beta cf, -CTPhCG, hCG beta CTP, deglyhCG, asialohCG, hCGav and the closely related molecules hLH, hLH beta and hLH beta ef.

Prostaglandins and Gonadotropin Secretion

Neuroendocrinology, 1974
Intracarotid injections of PGE1 into castrated-estrogen-pretreated female rats are followed by a rapid and prolonged release of LH, but have no important effects on FSH secretion ...

Gonadotropin Secretory Abnormalities

Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinics of North America, 1991
Normal physiology of puberty and normal GnRH, LH, FSH, and hCG secretion have been reviewed. Systemic disorders can affect the neuroendocrine axis and cause varying degrees of hypogonadism by acting at different levels in the axis. As both hypothalamic abnormalities and intrinsic pituitary abnormalities can cause an abnormal FSH/LH response to GnRH ...

The Gonadotropins

1970
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses various biological tests that have been developed for evaluating either total gonadotropic activity or the individual and luteotropic factors. A great variety of animals are used for this purpose, both hypophysectomized and intact.
