Preliminary findings of potentially resistant goosegrass (Eleusine indica) to glufosinate‐ammonium in Malaysia

open access: yesWeed Biology and Management, 2010
Goosegrass (Eleusine indica), regarded as one of the world's worst weeds, is highly pernicious to cash crop-growers in Malaysia. Following reports in 2009 that glufosinate-ammonium failed to adequately control goosegrass populations in Kesang, Malacca ...

Goosegrass and Bermudagrass Competition under Compaction

Agronomy Journal, 2009
Goosegrass (Eleusine indica L.) is a serious weed in trafficked areas of bermudagrass (Cynodon spp.) golf and sports turf. The objective of this study was to evaluate soil compaction and canopy cover as determinants of goosegrass competition in bermudagrass turf in sand soil.

Genetic Diversity and Morphological Variations of Goosegrass [Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn] Ecotypes in Malaysia [PDF]

open access: yesWeed & Turfgrass Science, 2016
Goosegrass [Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn] has been a nuisance to growers in Malaysia due to its increased resistance to commercial herbicides, rapid growth and dissemination, and interference with agricultural practices. In the course of developing an apt

Postemergence Control of Large Crabgrass and Goosegrass in Turf

Weed Science, 1975
Single and repeated applications of MSMA (monosodium methanearsonate) with and without 2,4-D [(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid], metribuzin [4-amino-6-tert-butyl-3-(methylthio)-as-triazine-5(4H)one], and methazole [2-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-4-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazolidine-3,5-di-one] were evaluated for control of large crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis L ...

A first report of glyphosate-resistant goosegrass (Eleusine indica (L) Gaertn) in Malaysia

Pest Management Science, 2000
Goosegrass (Eleusine indica (L) Gaertn) is a noxious weed in vegetable and fruit cultivation in Malaysia. Goosegrass biotypes resistant to aryloxyphenoxypropionate and cyclohexanedione herbicides have been reported in localised areas of Malaysia since 1989.

The Use of Goosegrass (Eleusine indica) to Remediate Soil Contaminated with Petroleum

Water, Air, & Soil Pollution, 2009
A greenhouse experiment was performed to evaluate effectiveness of goosegrass (Eleusine indica) in phytoremediation of soil contaminated with 8,247 mg kg−1 of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH). We determined seed germination toxicity, soil microbial viable counts, catalase activity, dehydrogenase activity (DHA), and the concentrations of TPH and 14 ...

Resistance of Goosegrass (Eleusine indica) to Dinitroaniline Herbicides

Weed Science, 1984
The presence of a dinitroaniline-resistant biotype of goosegrass [Eleusine indica(L.) Gaertner. ♯3ELEIN] was confirmed in the northeastern area of South Carolina. It was also found in seven adjoining counties. It showed resistance to seven dinitroaniline herbicides but not to herbicides from six other chemical groups.

Goosegrass and Bermudagrass Response to Rates and Tank Mixtures of Topramezone and Triclopyr

Crop Science, 2017
Postemergence herbicide options for mature goosegrass [Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn.] control in bermudagrass (Cynodon spp. Rich.) turf are lacking. Greenhouse and field trials were conducted to determine the lowest rate at which topramezone, with or without triclopyr, controls goosegrass while maintaining acceptable bermudagrass quality.
