Development of a 63K SNP array for cotton and high-density mapping of intraspecific and interspecific populations of Gossypium spp. [PDF]
High-throughput genotyping arrays provide a standardized resource for plant breeding communities that are useful for a breadth of applications including high-density genetic mapping, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), genomic selection (GS), complex

Cloning and Functional Analysis of the Promoter of an Ascorbate Oxidase Gene from Gossypium hirsutum. [PDF]
Apoplastic ascorbate oxidase (AO) plays significant roles in plant cell growth. However, the mechanism of underlying the transcriptional regulation of AO in Gossypium hirsutum remains unclear.

Co‐application of Bacillus strains TM22 and MCM61 suppressed Fusarium wilt of cotton. Seed biopriming with Bacillus strains performed better than soil drenching. TM22 + MCM61 improved vegetative and physiological aspects in cotton plants. TM22 + MCM61 enhanced the activity of defense enzymes and defense gene expression.

International genetic, cytogenetic and germplasm resources for cotton genomics and genetic improvement [PDF]
A general understanding of the nature, uses and need of cotton germplasm collections is important to maintaining support for them and their utilization. Such support is vital to addressing the future challenges and needs of cotton, which will be many and

Extrafloral nectar mediates interactions among plants, ants and herbivores; its contingency on damage amount and within‐plant uniformity is poorly understood. Here, we explore these factors in wild cotton (Gossypium hirsutum). Herbivory amount drove increases in extrafloral nectar induction per nectary, whereas within‐plant variability in damage ...

Inventory and history of the CIRAD cotton (Gossypium spp.) germplasm collection [PDF]
The CIRAD Cotton Germplasm Collection was founded in 1978 through the pooling of a number of working collections. It is one of the largest collections in the world representing genetic variability in the genus Gossypium L.

Feeding Preference and Foraging Behaviour of Eriopis connexa on Two Aphid Species
ABSTRACT Aphids are phloem‐feeding insects that cause both direct and indirect damage to crops, reducing agricultural productivity. Among the available pest control strategies, biological control using natural enemies is a sustainable and effective approach. The ladybird Eriopis connexa (Germar, 1824) is a generalist predator known for its voracity and

Evidence of unreduced gamete production from interspecific crosses between Gossypium hirsutum and G. herbaceum [PDF]
In order to analyze the gene flow between the allotetraploid cultivated cotton (Gossypium hirsutum, AADD, 2n=52) and the wild diploid (G. herbaceum, AA, 2n=26), the possibility of natural hybridization between these two cotton species has been ...
