Geologically Current Rates of Hotspot Motion
Abstract Hotspots, sites of mid‐plate volcanism or of excessive volcanism along a plate boundary, overlie plumes of hot rock that rise in the solid state from Earth's mantle. Previously estimated rates of lateral hotspot motion relative to a hotspot reference frame since Late Cretaceous time range from ∼3 to ∼80 mm/yr.

The spatial arrangement of trees and their branches within the canopy is crucial for light interception, often resulting in a positive relationship between canopy space filling and stand productivity. To date, there is no universal definition of canopy space.

Diurnal Air–Surface Temperature Dynamics in Hong Kong: An Analysis Across Land Use and Climate Zones
Daytime and nighttime air temperature (T a) from automatic weather stations and land surface temperature (T s) derived from ASTER and Landsat 8–9 are used to examine the relationship between T a and T s. The spatial and statistical characteristics of T a − T s dynamics are further analysed across land use (LU) and local climate zones (LCZ).

Body size evolution through shifting climatic conditions in Mesozoic dinosaurs
Abstract Body size evolution is commonly associated with climate change. For example, birds and mammals have been found to decrease in size with anthropogenic global warming. Recent studies have inferred distinct shifts in climatic niche preferences among the three major dinosaur clades.

The Southern Elephant SealMirounga Leoninaat Gough Island [PDF]
Southern elephant seals Mirounga leonina selected mainly the gently sloping, smooth-surfaced beaches and vegetated areas of the sheltered north-east coast. Mainly adults hauled out during the spring breeding season, with all pups being born by late October and the majority of the pups dispersing from their birthsites by December.

ABSTRACT There are compelling arguments for why basic income may be a powerful, transformative eco‐social policy tool in advanced welfare states. However, closer scrutiny reveals that the relationship between BI's ecological and social objectives is also marked by deep tensions.

Impact of possible catch roll-overs at Gough island
Projections of the lobster abundance at Gough island to 2030 with and without roll-overs (or roll-unders) in TACs since 2019 of the extent already agreed or under discussion, show that such a redistribution of catch over time makes virtually no difference to future abundance.
