Open Source Software Development Projects: Determinants of Project Popularity [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper is an initial exploration of the determinants of open source project success as measured by project popularity. We simultaneously model the impact of project-specific characteristics on project popularity, and the impact of intended users and ...

Temperature and Dynamic Effects of the Plate Boundary Shear Zone During Subduction

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract The plate boundary in a subduction zone is a narrow, weak shear zone, which transitions from brittle to ductile deformation with increasing depth. The exhumed rock record documents the important role of metamorphism, fluid release, and mixing of compositionally distinct materials in controlling the physical properties of the shear zone.

WellPINN: Accurate Well Representation for Transient Fluid Pressure Diffusion in Subsurface Reservoirs With Physics‐Informed Neural Networks

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Accurate representation of pumping wells is essential for reliable reservoir characterization and simulation of operational scenarios in subsurface flow models. Physics‐informed neural networks (PINNs) are emerging as a promising alternative to numerical models for reservoir modeling, offering seamless integration of monitoring data and ...

DP-GPL: Differentially Private Graph Prompt Learning

open access: yesCoRR
Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have shown remarkable performance in various applications. Recently, graph prompt learning has emerged as a powerful GNN training paradigm, inspired by advances in language and vision foundation models. Here, a GNN is pre-trained on public data and then adapted to sensitive tasks using lightweight graph prompts.

Spatial Variability in Trace Organic Compound Reactivity During Urban River Infiltration Into an Alluvial Aquifer

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Trace organic compounds (TrOCs) in lotic systems pose risks for ecosystem and human health. TrOCs can enter groundwater along losing river sections, yet little is known about the spatial extent of infiltration zones and the biogeochemical factors controlling the spatial variability of TrOC reactivity and removal, particularly along river‐to ...

GPL license compliance

open access: yes, 2011
The enormous success of Linux in the consumer electronics industry has unfortunately led to a dramatic increase in license violations in devices. In this talk we will shortly look at the backgrounds of these violations, tooling to help uncover violations and what is needed to prevent future violations from happening.

BINge: Multispecies Ortholog Clustering for Differential Gene Expression Analyses

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 26, Issue 4, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Differential gene expression (DGE) analysis enables researchers to investigate the link between gene expression and the phenotypic responses observed in organisms across time, experimental, or field conditions. Accurate quantification of gene expression is essential when performing DGE experiments, with a range of methods having been developed

Certification of Open Source Software Compliance: Insights From a Conjoint Experiment

open access: yesInformation Systems Journal, Volume 36, Issue 3, Page 386-409, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Open source software (OSS) is becoming increasingly crucial for companies as they use OSS components in a wide range of products, including cars, smart‐home equipment, and many more, as well as in their internal processes. However, OSS comes with regulations and licensing conditions with which companies need to comply.

Phylogenetically‐informed estimates of notosuchian (Archosauria, Crocodylomorpha) body size and the challenges of inferring macroevolutionary patterns in extinct groups

open access: yesPalaeontology, Volume 69, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract Notosuchian crocodylomorphs were predominantly active terrestrial predators, exhibiting a wide range of ecomorphological specializations and body sizes. Given that body size plays an important role in the life history of vertebrates, its accurate estimation for notosuchians is crucial for understanding macroevolutionary and macroecological ...

Serial Spatial Transcriptomes Reveal Regulatory Transitions in Maize Leaf Development

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, Page 2787-2810, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Plant leaves originate from the shoot apical meristem (SAM) and undergo a developmental process of highly coordinated gene expression regulation. To date, only a few key regulators have been identified and characterised, so the gene expression cascades responsible for leaf cell specification and differentiation from SAM remain largely elusive.
