Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Impact of Asymptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage on Outcome After Endovascular Stroke Treatment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Endovascular treatment (EVT) achieves high rates of recanalization in acute large‐vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke, but functional recovery remains heterogeneous. While symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) has been well studied, the prognostic impact of asymptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (aICH) after EVT is less certain ...

Complementarity of Long‐Reads and Optical Mapping in Parkinson's Disease for Structural Variants

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Long‐read sequencing and optical genome mapping technologies have the ability to detect large and complex structural variants. This has led to the discovery of novel pathogenic variants in neurodegenerative movement disorders. Thus, we aimed to systematically compare the SV detection capabilities of OGM and ONT in Parkinson's disease.

Posterior Cortical Atrophy in the Asia‐Pacific: A Report From the PCA Asian Workgroup

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA) is a distinct dementia syndrome primarily affecting spatial abilities and visual processing. It is associated with degeneration in the posterior part of the brain. PCA is subclassified into PCA‐pure and PCA‐plus syndromes based on consensus criteria.

Clinical Validation of Plasma p‐217tau in Neurological Diseases

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma p‐217tau is a minimally invasive but specific biomarker for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its disease specificity remains to be clinically evaluated. We validated the reliability of the p‐217tau biomarker in 12 other neurological diseases.

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

Grad kao logor, logor kao grad

open access: yesŽivot umjetnosti : časopis o modernoj i suvremenoj umjetnosti i arhitekturi, 2017
This paper presents and discusses the transformation of the contemporary city, and the camp in the context of emergency. The former is presented and discussed based on earthquake risk as emergency, and processes of risk-connected urban transformation as confinement mechanisms, leading to the displacement of inhabitants, redevelopment of neighborhoods ...

Pametan grad kao sretan grad suvremenog dooba [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Još u antičkim spisima prepoznajemo tendencije opisivanja idealnih društvenih, državnih i prostornih uređenja (npr. u Platonovoj Državi i Aristotelovoj Politici). Gradovi su oduvijek bili središta društvenoga života, pa je promišljanje poboljšanja životnih uvjeta neodvojivo od promišljanja unaprjeđenja gradova. Renesansni filozof Frane Petrić u svojemu
