A mechanistic model for creep lifetime of ferritic steels: Application to Grade 91 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
International audienceIn this work, a physics-based crystal plasticity model is developed to predict failure in Grade 91 steel. A microstructure-sensitive dislocation kinetics law defines local plastic slip, an Arrhenius creep law is used to model ...

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Innovative Gen-II/III and research reactors' fuels and materials

open access: yesEPJ Nuclear Sciences & Technologies, 2020
This manuscript presents important material challenges regarding innovative Gen-II/III nuclear systems and research reactors. The challenges are discussed alongside the key achievements so far realised within the framework of 4 EU-funded projects: H2020 ...

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Evaluation of Welded Joints in P91 Steel under Different Heat-Treatment Conditions

open access: yesMetals, 2020
P91 steel has been of interest to many researchers over the past two decades. This interest is because this steel has very interesting characteristics for application in power plants, where it is common to have pipes that need to support steam at ...

Investigation of creep cavitation mechanisms in ferritic Grade 91 steel

open access: yesMaterialia
The majority of premature failures in Grade 91 steel components used in high-temperature applications, such as power plants, are attributed to creep cavity nucleation. This study examined creep cavity nucleation in ferritic P91 ex-service material during

A Postassessment Test of 100,000 h Creep Rupture Strength of Grade 91 Steel at 600 °C

open access: yes, 2017
Predictions as to 105 h creep rupture strength of grade 91 steel have been made recently. The predicted values are examined with long-term creep rupture data of the steel.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Effects of the Tempering and High-Pressure Torsion Temperatures Onmicrostructure of Ferritic/Martensitic Steel Grade 91

open access: yes, 2018
Grade 91 (9Cr-1Mo) steel was subjected to various heat treatments and then to high-pressure torsion (HPT) at different temperatures. Its microstructure was studied using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).

Commercialisation of impression creep testing

open access: yesUbiquity Proceedings, 2018
Impression creep testing is a technique in which the deformation resulting from load applied via a rectangular indenter can be converted relatively straightforwardly into a proxy for creep minimum strain rate.
