Fabrication and Characterization of Planar-Type Top-Illuminated InP-Based Avalanche Photodetector on Conductive Substrate with Operating Speeds Exceeding 10 Gbps

open access: yesSensors, 2018
This paper presents a high-speed top-illuminated InP-based avalanche photodetector (APD) fabricated on conductive InP-wafer using planar processes. The proposed device was then evaluated in terms of DC and dynamic performance characteristics.

Evaluating the Histologic Grade of Digital Squamous Cell Carcinomas in Dogs and Copy Number Variation of KIT Ligand—A Correlation Study

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences, 2023
Dark-haired dogs are predisposed to the development of digital squamous cell carcinoma (DSCC). This may potentially suggest an underlying genetic predisposition not yet completely elucidated.

Gradation of Algebras of Curves by the Winding Number

open access: yes, 2016
We construct a new grading on the Goldman Lie algebra of a closed oriented surface by the winding number. This grading induces a grading on the HOMFLY-PT skein algebra and related algebras. Our work supports the conjectures of B.

Ungrading in organic chemistry: students assessing themselves and reflecting on their learning

open access: yesFrontiers in Education
The focus on grades has diminished the focus on learning. One strategy that aims to return students’ attention to what they are actually learning (and not just earning) is ungrading.

Evaluation of Whole-Tumor Texture Analysis Based on MRI Diffusion Kurtosis and Biparametric VI-RADS Model for Staging and Grading Bladder Cancer

open access: yesBioengineering, 2023
Background: to evaluate the feasibility of texture analysis (TA) based on diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) in staging and grading bladder cancer (BC) and to compare it with apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and biparametric vesical imaging reporting ...

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Why and When Are Evidence‐Based Interventions Adopted in Paediatric Supportive Care? A Qualitative Exploration of the Determinants of Photobiomodulation Implementation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oral mucositis is a common and debilitating side effect of childhood cancer and stem cell transplant treatments. It affects the quality of life of children and young people (CYP) and places a strain on services. Photobiomodulation is recommended for oral mucositis prevention in international guidance but is poorly implemented in UK ...
