A unified approach to gradual shot transition detection
Proceedings 2000 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.00CH37101), 2002Nowadays, content-based retrieval of video material is based on the availability of meta-data linked to it. Current approaches to automatically extract these data start from a temporal segmentation of the audio-visual material, that is, a location of the camera shot transitions.

A New Approach to Gradual Video Transition Detection
2012 16th Panhellenic Conference on Informatics, 2012In this paper the problem of shot boundary detection for gradual transitions within video sequences is treated using statistical tests in conjunction with the Iterative Self Organizing Data Analysis (ISODATA) classification algorithm for consecutive video frames.

Lale is a sklearn-compatible library for automated machine learning (AutoML). It is open-source (https://github.com/ibm/lale) and addresses the need for gradual automation of machine learning as opposed to offering a black-box AutoML tool.

Gradual Programming in Hedy: A First User Study
IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages / Human-Centric Computing Languages and Environments, 2021Recently the ‘gradual programming’ approach was introduced, which proposes to lower the syntax barrier by starting with a very simple language, and gradually adding both concepts and refining syntax.

An Approach for Extracting Frequent (Closed) Gradual Patterns Under Temporal Constraint
IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2018Gradual patterns that capture the order correlations of the form "The more/less X, then the more/less Y" play an important role in many real world applications.

Sound gradual typing: only mostly dead [PDF]
While gradual typing has proven itself attractive to programmers, many systems have avoided sound gradual typing due to the run time overhead of enforcement.

Gradual perception of structure from motion: a neural approach
IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, 1995In this paper we propose a parallel network which gradually computes the three-dimensional (3-D) structure of a moving scene from its image sequence, using an incremental scheme based upon a constraint called the maximal rigidity principle. At each instant an internal model (i.e., current estimate) of the 3-D structure is updated, based upon the ...

An exploratory approach to teaching gradually varied flow
Journal of Hydro-environment Research, 2010An innovative approach to teaching the principles of gradually varied flow is presented in the larger context of water resource engineering. The paper illustrates an approach to gradually varied flow (GVF) by directly tracking the “deposits” and “withdrawals” of mechanical energy to a channel and then using this balance to show that certain evolutions ...

A multi-modular approach to gradual change in grammaticalization
Journal of Linguistics, 2008Examining four constructions in three languages (English quantificational nouns, Japanese subordinating conjunctions, Cantonese coverbs, Japanese deverbal postpositions), this paper shows that semantic properties can change faster than syntactic properties in gradual processes of grammaticalization.
