Electroinitiated graft copolymerization

Journal of Polymer Science: Polymer Chemistry Edition, 1980
AbstractA technique has been developed for initiating a graft copolymerization electrochemically. A copoly(styrene/vinylbenzophenone) linear copolymer was prepared to serve as the electroactive starting material. The benzophenone sites on this molecule are readily activated at the cathode.

Surface modification by continuous graft copolymerization. II. Photoinitiated graft copolymerization onto polypropylene film surface

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1990
AbstractA method for photochemically induced graft copolymerization of acrylamide (AM) onto polypropylene (PP) film surface by a continuous presoaking process under nitrogen atmosphere has been developed. After removal of homopolymer formed, ESCA, UV spectroscopy, contact angle, and adhesion measurements confirmed a photografted layer on the surface of

Radiation‐Induced graft copolymerization, I. Graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto nylon‐6

Die Angewandte Makromolekulare Chemie, 1985
AbstractThe radiation‐induced graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto nylon fibers was investigated at room temperature. The homopolymer was separated by soxhlet extraction. The graft yield increases with increase of dose rate from 0.1768 to 0.7072 Mrad. The percentage of grafting increase with increasing monomer concentration.

Graft copolymerization onto Tamarind Kernel Powder: Ceric(IV)‐initiated graft copolymerization of acrylonitrile

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2009
AbstractTamarind Kernel Powder (TKP) is derived from the seeds of Tamarindus indica Linn., a common and most important tree of India. It is extensively used in cotton sizing, as a wet‐end additive in the paper industry, as a thickening, stabilizing, and gelling agent in the food industry. However, because of its fast biodegradability there is a need to

Graft copolymerization onto jute fiber: Ceric ion‐initiated graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate

Journal of Polymer Science: Polymer Chemistry Edition, 1980
AbstractGraft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) was carried out on both defatted and bleached jute fibers using ceric ammonium sulfate (CAS) as the initiator. In order to obtain the optimum condition for grafting, the effects of initiator concentrations, temperature, time of reaction, lignin content of jute, and the monomer concentration ...
