ジアルデヒドデンプン (DAS) へのメチルメタクリレート (MMA) とメチルアクリレート (MA) のグラフト重合を行なった。セリウム塩, 過硫酸塩または高級漂白剤の一種である “シルブライト” などがきわめて強い触媒活性を示し, 高いグラフト率とグラフト効率でそれぞれのグラフトポリマーが得られた。またジァルデヒドデンプン自身がMMA, MAの重合に関しては相当の誘導期間はあるが, 触媒活性を示すことが認められた。しかしながら酢酸ビニルやアクリ質ニトリルなどのモノマーでは触媒活性を示さなかった。DAS, MMA, セリウム塩の3成分系での重合においてグラフト重合の見かけ上の活性化エネルギーは10.0kcal/molであり, またDASの濃度の1 ...
